They say the sameeee old things. Exercise, mindfulness, Vitamin B12 deficienecy (which I don't have), change your diet, change your thoughts, change your behaviors, medication, meditation, la-de-da-da. Yeah I've tried it all for years, didn't you hear me?
Jeez. I'm just fed up. |

Do you mean no docs believe you have a mood disorder or depression?

I'm sorry to hear that. I have been there, where I have not responded to therapy or medications and whatever else I tried. In fact I currently find myself in a slump again. May I ask, how do you cope having treatment resistant depression?

I've had TRD for decades. Only things that have lifted my mood are simulants and Oxycodone, which I take for chronic pain. Literally nothing else has touched my depression.

Have you looked into ECT or TMS?

Done both. No response.

I believe you. I think you've proved you have TRD. After all - you've endured depression for a long time, despite getting treated for it. That's a fact that can't really be argued with.
I find it interesting that oxycodone has seemed helpful to you. I've had some depression relief from hydrocodone. There was a time when opioids were used by doctors to treat depression. That shouldn't surprise anyone. If they didn't make people feel happier, they wouldn't be addictive. I feel just as fed up as you with being told the same standard things. The pdoc I see now recommended aerobic exercise. I told him I was there to get a prescription for Ritalin and wasn't interested in hearing a lecture on how I should exercise more. He gave me the script. I have to see him every 3 months to continue on this drug, which helps a little bit. He shows little interest in talking with me, which is fine with me. I long ago got sick of getting the same advice from everyone. You remind me of me. |

What about the new depression med, Ketamine. Have read it works wonders since works in a few hours or days when most meds take a few weeks. Yes exercise helps me, but occasionally I’m too depressed to exercise and then distraction helps some. Now my TMJ is acting up and want to look into meds that may help pain and depression. Have never taken meds for depression.
