I am only 13. But I somehow was suicidal before I was 12. My parents divorce is the reason for that one. Its so painful to go thru this. I just don't understand why nothing works. I honestly feel like I would be better off dead. The only reason I haven't acted on it yet is because of my 3 week old sister. I just feel like my life no longer matters. It doesn't make sense. No treatment works. I've been on countless medications and with countless psychotherapists. But nothing ever works. I just feel so stuck because nothing ever works. I honestly just want my life to be done.

Hi Gymnastfanatic. I am sorry for the pain you feel from your parent's divorce. That must be so painful to see the two people you are closest to for a large part of your life, move in different directions and possibly even speak badly about each other.

It also must be very frustrating to try many meds and not see a change. There are lifestyle alternatives that are recommended like "adopting healthy habits, including exercise, shopping and cooking for yourself, getting enough sleep, making social connections and having reasons to get out of bed in the morning. Having a pet to look after is a surprisingly effective piece of the puzzle."

Those appear in an article about TMS Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation that is here What can you do for depression when medication doesn’t work? | The Star
The US has many TMS treatment sites. Many insurance plans cover that.

Another alternative if your doctor thinks it may be needed is ECT Electro Convulsive Therapy. It is one possible treatment for med resistant conditions.

I lost my dad recently and I have had to reinvent my self image, who I am and what I am doing in life. I am glad you feel caring towards your young sister. With a new born in the house, your mom may need help also. Have you talked to her about how you can be part of the care plan for your little sister so your mom can get breaks to do things for self care for herself? Having a purpose often involves taking on responsibilities.

What do you think about the summer olympics coming up and the US gymnastic team?
