So I have to order my birth control through my insurance and they mail me 3 months at a time. I had a pack left over from when my OBGYN switched me last year. My new package of pills didn't come in time to start them at the right time and I found the old pack of pills. It doesn't give an expiration date on the label, just the date they were prescribed.

Anyone know about 'expired' birth control? How long do you think they are effective for? They were kept in the drawer of my nightstand in my bedroom so a cool, dry, dark place which I know keeps them better for a longer period of time. I tried googling it and some people say 'don't take it' while others say it's fine. Any input?

Take them anyway, but use backup like condoms, spermicide, etc. That's what my OB told me one time. Don't ya love it when insurance companies slack off on the meds...because paying for a pregnancy is so much cheaper....

yeah, i took them. had a little breakthrough bleeding (either that or just had my period like a week early) but i think its because it was a different brand (a little higher estrogen than my current). plus i've been on b.c. since sept without missing a pill so i don't think id even be able to get prego right now if i tried lol but i was just curious.

i should have my next period here in about 2.5-3 weeks so ill know for sure then i guess lol

and i always thought it was weird that i have to pay for birth control but abortions are 100% covered by my insurance.......
