fallenangel,
You have a ready made excuse--your low grade fever. If your Mom knows about your previous yeast infections, you can also use it.
I'm a retired nurse, and to be honest with you, there were times when I "treated" my kids, too. When they became teens, our pcp politely told me that they had every right to their privacy...if something were seriously wrong, then he would let me know about it.
He was right.
Maybe your physician will back you on this, too. It's worth a try...and jmo, but you are entitled to your privacy...unless you are 10.5 yo

Don't delay, ok? If it is herpes then the sooner you start treatment, the better.
The first good to come out of it will be you feeling better emotionally...

Catherine

I'm definitely older than that . 18 in less than a month! So depending on how long it takes to get the results back, they may not be able to release anything at all, even if they wanted to.

I'll make an appointment first thing in the morning.

This is so good to hear, fallenangel! You are getting an early lesson in taking care of yourself...way to go!

Again, I'm walking with you so you are not alone.

18 in less than a month?
I was thrilled when I turned 18...now at my age, I'm thrilled when I wake up every morning.

In Peace,

Catherine

Anyone 16 and older can walk into any USA Planned Parenthood and be seen, recieve treatment and recieve birth control. They only notify the parents if they feel the patient is in danger from abuse or suicide. I was being seen by planned parenthood and still am. I walked in their doors right on my 16th birthday for a physical and birthcontrol. They found I had already had an STD and gave me the treatment for it.

About how much do STD tests usually cost?

You can usually get free std tests from clinics. Idk if planned parenthood offers that in your area, but they can tell you were to get them.

For me it cost nothing at the time I was homeless (a runaway)and didnt have a job. planned parenthood has sliding fee program besides taking insurance and paying full cost with cash or check.

I put in for an appointment at a free health clinic in my area, so I should get a call back within the next day or two to confirm.

Way to Go, fallenangel!
Taking charge of your health is a big step.
Taking charge of anything in our lives is powerful, I believe.

Still with you,

Catherine

Hi there. I have a little hard thing on the inside of my labia. It's white in color but I have had it since I was pregnant with my 7 y/o son. The gyno told me it was a skin tag caused by messed up Ph from my hormones. I don't know if this helps you. But I would definately get it checked out by a gyno. It could be te Ph in your body or the herpes virus (which is highly treatable and non fatal)

The clinic hasn't called, so I don't know what to think.

I just got an e-mail from them, and they said they are, unfortunately, not the best fit for STD testing. however, they referred me to another clinic nearby that does free and confidential STD testing, and can usually offer same-day appointments, so I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what I can do.

No kidding! Who knew getting medical attention was such a time-consuming thing to do?
