I know I'm new here but thought I'd jump right in head first anyway...
Every single time my husband and I have sex i spot bright pink/light red for at least a day and a half after. I can't remember when it started, it seems like it's always been this way but I know that's not the case. i have no history of STDs or abnormal pap exams and am not on birth control of any sort. I'm 32 and have 2 children, uncomplicated pregnancies (physically). could it be a side effect of meds? I am diagnosed currently as bipolar NOS and take lithium, lamictal, klonopin, Abilify and Lexapro. Lexapro is the most recent addition, going on 4 months now. Do I need to chin up and see my doc? (I DON"T WANNA!!) cheers ![]()

Does it hurt when you have sex? Are you able to feel anything that would make you think "yikes, that's going to bleed"? Are you doing anything that may cause bleeding? Is the spotting like tiny bits when you wipe, or visible blood in your panties?

thanks for your reply, I appreciate it! Sex is not painful and never has been for me. We're pretty unadventurous in the bedroom, so there isn't any play that I would really connect with "may cause bleeding." And the spotting is enough to be visible in my panties, I need to wear a pantyliner to avoid ruining them. HTH

I guess that you probably should talk to you doc. I hope it's something simple, like maybe need more lubrication or something like that.

Quote:
my doctors all tell me if it concerns me then by all means call in. it may turn out to be nothing but better safe then have it turn out to be something and not get it treated. Im with my doctors. call in make an appointment and talk about this with your doctor, he may have lubricant or meds or ideas based on what it turns out to be so this doesn't keep happening to you. ![]() |

I' ve been married for 6yrs and have almost always bled after sex. I was so frustrated I mentioned it to my GP when I had a pap and he said I had an STD. Which I knew was not possible, because my husband and I had only been with each other & waited until marriage. Anyway, long story short- I ended up seeing an ob/gyn and she thought I had endometriosis so I had a laparoscopy and she was right. Sex was also painful for me. I have 2 kids now and sex is still painful but I only randomly spot or bleed after. Last time I bled pretty heavy, heavy enough for my husband to ask if I had my period.

Phrick, it can be caused from stimulating the cervix. There are alot of tiny cappilaries there and if he makes contact with the cervix it can cause this. Also, sometimes chemestry...his semen and the cervix, but mostly from actual contact with it. It happenes alot more during pregnanacy in women who have never had the issue, because the uterus displaces the cervix and reduces the length of the vagina. But if your man is reaching the cervix it can cause that.
If you have been checked for STDs , etc, then I would not worry. If it has always been that way, probably nothing to worry about. But if it started suddenly or with pain or some funky discharge, I would make an OB/GYN appt. ![]()
