Whenever I have my period I have this shooting pain through my vagina and sometimes my ****. It's like a cramp but it's about 10x worse and at the opening of my vagina - not my uterus. It hurts to the point that it will wake me up in the middle of the night and basically immobilizes me. It has gotten worse and more frequent over the last few years and before I could ignore it but now if it happens on campus I have to run to the bathroom because guaranteed it will bring me to tears.

I have been thinking about calling my OBGYN but when googling it it looks like everyone says there is no name and no treatment. I have already gone through a lot for polycystic ovaries (had over a dozen on each ovary and a polyp in my uterus) and I'm starting to become terrified that I will never be able to have children.

I can relate to this kind of pain when I had my period. Do you ever get clots forming, because I think this is what it is. If the clot is large enough it has to pass through the small cervical opening - the unterus contracts and as it comes through the cervix, it can cause this kind of pain.

I do get clots every now and then. It doesn't seem to coincide with a clot or anything. It's more around the opening and not the uterus or cervix. I thought maybe it was from using a tampon so I stopped but it continues with or without using one.

I don't get a clot every period and this pain happens every period now. It used to be once in a blue moon but now it's every month like clock work. That's how I woke up yesterday morning.

I read that it could be related to endometriosis. I just had my annual check up this past January and she said everything was fine, but I don't know if they can detect things like that from a simple check up? I have never had an abnormal pap smear and I had a hysterosonogram a few years ago when I was having a lot of ruptured cysts and they didn't say anything about endometriosis but that was before I started having this pain.

With your history of female problems I think calling the gyn is your best choice.
