lately I've noticed that I have a strong odor down stairs.. it's there even pretty much straight after a shower. any ideas what I should do?

I've never had a pap test so I don't know if I should have one.. I'm only 19 and I'm scared to see my regular dr about it cuz he's male.

any help would be great.

Do your lady parts itch more than usual? Change in vaginal discharge? Recently taken antibiotics for any reason? Do you take baths or showers? It is possible you could have a yeast infection. Or something else. Or it could be not a problem at all.

You should see a gyn doc particularly if you are sexually active.

It could be nothing or it could be something - it is impossible to tell a lot of the time. If you can I would suggest arranging to see a doctor. If you aren't comfortable talking to your current doctor would you be able to find a female doctor in your area? That might make it easier.

We have normal "friendly" bacteria in our body that keeps these parts working smoothly. But antibiotics wipe out all bacteria, both the good with the bad. So it may? have something to do with it? A gynecologist can help you figure out what it is. It's not so bad once you go. I'm sure you can find a female doc. Good luck.

Try to take some yoghurt with your antibiotic. Those have living cultures also called probiotics!
I cannot take any antibiotics with out adding probiotics to my diet! I will get stomach problems and yeast infections!
You can buy probiotic supplements, but make sure you buy refrigerated ones, best in a pharmacy. All others are usually gimmicks since probiotics are living cultures and need to kept cool!

Antibiotics and some soaps have given me yeast infections (I got one a 5 years old because of a bubble bath). It's nothing to be embarrassed about! Most women get yeast infections at some point in their lives. At the very least, you might want to try some over the counter yeast infection cream; however, I agree with everyone else you should see your doctor. Doctors, male and female, are understanding of these things (although, much like you, I do prefer a female).

As far as a PAP test, I've been getting them since I have been 15 (I wasn't sexually active until your age). Even if you're not sexually active, it's good to get checked out once a year.

Even if there were no odour, the fact that your are 19 years of age and haven't had a pap done..that is risky on your part. You should be getting a pap test done annually.
