Before my period is due, I cry a lot. My moods are up and down. I cut myself too because of my mood swings. I guess it is hormones but it is annoying. I am on it now and I feel fine. I'm not crying. Is there anything I can do? I am fed up with experiencing bad mood swings before my period is due.

Thank you. It might be hormonal. I have experienced this so many times and I know it has something to do with hormones. Should I go to the doctor about it? I think I should.

I have the same thing. I become so emotional the two or so days before my period. I become agitated and depressed and angry. It is awful.

I don't become depressed or angry. I just cry so much. But I am sorry about what you are going through.

Only you can decide if you want to medicate it or just accept it for what it is and make concessions for that time of the month.

Personally (due to a lot of allergic and adverse reactions) I don't like to medicate for any reason unless absolutely necessary, so when I start feeling cranky, dyspeptic, weepy, and crabby, I tend to withdraw from the company of others until after I've started and am feeling better.

Of course, I still have to go to work and have to constantly remind myself that YES, this is what's going on, and NO I cannot take it out on others.

Hope you find what works best for you whatever you decide to do!

You are right maybe I have to be on my own when I'm on it. Then I wouldn't upset anyone.

Thanks Happy Cheeks,
I know one thing that helps me is if I realize that it is that time of month. Then I can be prepared for the emotional overflow. For me it is hard because that is the same way a slide into a major depressive episode starts so I'm always afraid that is what is happening. So when it just suddenly stops when my period starts it is better. Sometimes I can tell it is because of my period because of the food cravings give me a clue. Good luck.
