I bought a Groupon for laser hair removal. It's a full Brazilian bikini area...all the hair "down there" including the upper thighs and around the **** area. The problem is I have to shave the hair off before the laser treatment. I have no idea how to do this. I cannot use waxing or Nair because the laser treatment won't work that way.

Any help given will be appreciated! I am afraid of sharp things near my nether regions. The area around my C section scar is completely numb so I have to be careful that I don't cut myself.

Six laser treatments 6-8 weeks apart and the vast majority of my hair there should be gone. YAY

If you have an untamed nether region I'd suggest using scissors to cut the hair pretty short before going at it with a razor--keeps the blade sharper and doesn't take as long.

Try to keep the skin taut for a smoother closer shave. Use shaving cream or hair conditioner (slick, effective). Shave with the grain or perpendicular, but if you go against you're more likely to get razorburn.

Use a brand new razor.

Go slow!

Use only body wash, and a trusty good razor, I use Bic soilel. get a great lather, then start trimming it up until you can get to the shaving point then Shave away. Take you're time and use plenty of body wash, remember to use only a new razor. Im a shaver so this is pie lol. Good luck to a smooth future lol.

Don't try to do it standing. It will be much easier for you if you can sit down in the shower. Indian style(ish) works for me, and sometimes I am sort of squatting. Sometimes I have even almost reclined onto my back so I can better see/access those parts.

I understand your fear. It took me a long time. There is important stuff down there!

Definitely use a scissor first. For me, I think that the hardest part is shaving around the vagina lips. Just use a little bit of shaving cream at a time. It helps if you pull one of your lips up while you are shaving the outside, if you can. My vagina lips are sort of large so I have some flexibility there, I don't know about everyone elses.

When shaving around the vaginal cavity, I was laying almost on my back the upper part of my back propped up against the shower wall and I had my knees apart. That stretches the skin enough.

This all depends on how much you really want to shave.

I have some hair just a teeny bit on the inside of my vagina lips too. More like on the top and creeping over. That part is scary to me, but again if I pull the lip away from all of the important stuff I feel better about it.

Sorry if that was too graphic...

I actually only use body wash as well, not shaving cream. It was hard when my pubic hair was gone because I used to use it to make a lather with my soap, teehee.

well, just so you know, with a Brazilian hair removal you can have all the hair removed or you can leave what you want--just don't shave the area where you want a little hair left. I've been getting the Brazilian hair removal and I have to tell you it's pretty painful, especially if you're having EVERYTHING removed. I'd suggest leaving a landing strip if you ever want the option. once it's gone, it's gone.

just be prepared for some pain with the laser. I've had tattoos and kind of enjoy the pain of the hair removal, but I'm weird like that. I have one left in the series of six sessions and I still have to shave a lot so it's not a sure-fire thing it will all be removed--it's more like the hair is reduced.

good luck!

I have always found squating position to be the best. It pulls all the skin taunt and you can reach all areas real well. My friends and I call it Froggy style hehe.

Hey, ...um...not sure the best way to compliment shaving your pubes, but...good for you!

I've been shaving my pubes for several years now. Probably since middle school/freshman year. It's really not that hard and I shave wherever there is hair.

The way I shave is that I shave it all off once a month or two so there is a decent amount of hair to shave off. It's alot different from shaving your legs, but it's not rocket science. Yes, I get knicked when I shave, but it's no big deal--doesn't sting, just a little blood, nothing to worry about. Expect to be shaving for a half hour to 45 minutes since you are new to shaving your pubes and expect to go through one to two razors. Be patient, it can be a little frustrating due to all the hair. Shave while showering so that you can rinse off the razor and the bikini area. The hardest part for me is the labia because it is harder to see and you need to pull the outer and inner labia out so you shave it evenly. You can stand or sit in the tub while shaving. I end up doing both for different parts I'm shaving.

So...how to shave? I am an avid Girls Life reader so that is where I learned to shave. Let me go and pull up the article for you...brb...

edit: the article is in one of my many magazines and I'm not gonna go searching for it...

I just googled how to shave pubic hair and this popped up. It's straight forward, i would skip number 2 because I don't use special scissors for the pubic area and I do not use shaving gel because hot running water is just as effective. Good luck!
