First off I am uncomfortable posting this but I have been putting up with this for awhile now.

I have had the weirdest smell coming from my "cookie" area. The thing that is most annoying about it is the smell is so strong other people catch a whiff. I shower pretty much everyday except for the occasional Saturday or Sunday. I use wipes to clean the area during the day at work. I'm probably more hygienic with that particular area now than most.

I have been to the gynecologist I don't know how many times in the past 6 to 12 months. I don't have any stds and the doctor even said my Ph levels are fine. A year ago I had a bacterial infection which was treated with anti biotics and is gone. Every other time I have went they keep telling me "try this" "try that" and nothing freaking works. Last time I went I was diagnosed with a yeast infection. I only had a very light discharge at the time if any at all. Well I noticed while on the medication for that; one day the odor was extra strong and NOW I have more of a discharge. Wtf? My period is even worse smelling. So now on Monday I have to make yet another appointment. I am extremely frustrated and completely fed up.

I am kind of wondering if part of it is my diet though. I definetly do not drink enough water, I drink plenty of mountain dew though. I definetly do not eat right ethier. However I do not see how a bad diet would make it smell THAT pungent and strong.

And the smell is even hard to explain it isn't a fishy odor associated with BV but sometimes more like an ammonia smell and when on my period sometimes it like a rotten egg smell.

I refuse to live with this!

Hi, now I am only young and don’t know everything, so sorry if I am not at all helpful. If you are on certain types of birth control they can sometimes make you more prone to getting bacterial/ vaginal infections. I am not saying this is what you have and I wouldn’t know to be honest. I know that the implant can cause this and on leaflet it states this is common in 1 out 10 women to experience this type of infection. I don’t know if other forms of birth control could also have this effect on you in such a way as well. But this might be another explanation. If it applies to you or you haven’t already considered that this could be a cause. Sorry if I haven’t worded this well. I normally don’t post here because it’s mostly sensitive threads but I think I was ok saying this.

i read a similar story in a newspaper about a week ago. the women had to change her diet to basically just fruit and veg, no meat or fish etc, but the smell also affected other parts of her body i.e. the smell of her sweat, her breathe etc, so maybe it's not the same thing with you.

anyways, i just wanted to say i hope docs find the solution for you soon.

I am aware that for at least myself, strong tasting foods such as garlic, onion or asparagus do affect my intimate scent. And not to be to crude my other half finds that taste changes with different foods. Perhaps see your doctor and then if your still plagued consider small diet changes and lots of plain water. Hope you get a solution soon

Ok I dont know, so I'm just going out on a limb here. But you mentioned an ammonia smell. My sweat smells like anonia very strongly and it is from not eating enough Carbs and results in burning protein which makes your sweat smell like ammonia in short. No idea if that could be the problem tho, just throwing it out there.

I tried to google this too But only got the answer of infection of vaginal tract, or uti. But I also read it could be sweat from down there. Or it could be that you bleach your underwear and it creates that smell, but I think you would know if it was just the underwear.

I would definitely look at diet, and drink more water. The smell of my urine became awful at one point, though I was very well hydrated, and it turned out there were issues with the local water supply. We bought a water filter, and things are much-improved. So I think diet could definitely impact intimate scent as well.

I would definitely increase water intake, to start to change the chemistry first and foremost; it's healthier anyway. The other thing is that it can be difficult to rule out ammonia smell coming from the urethra or vaginally.

If it were me and all the other things vaginally were coming up negative (for infections), if it hasn't already been done, I would checked out by getting blood work and a complete urinalysis done, to see what might be going on instead of guessing.

It's frustrating, no doubt (! ) but ask to have the lab work done as there might be something that you can do more than playing a guessing game, especially if you are going in anyway. It can be an indication of something that can be easily taken care of with the right information, could be diet and/or could be something just as simple. Good to have the right information.

Here is my 2 cents worth,

Like Fresia, see if your doc will order so more labs. Are you by any chance diabetic? I've not heard that diabetics have a bad smell but may have a sweet smell????? Maybe that isn't correct, but so many things can contribte to that.

Just being dehydrated can cause 'concentrated urine', which does have a strong odor, is a darker yellow and easy to fix by drinking more water, not Mountain Dew. Caffiene can cause dehydration too, making you have to go more often. When I get a little dehydrated, my first bathroom use in the morning is the strongest smelling.

Good thing you are having it checked out.

well done on drinking more water but you don't have to drink nothing but water, that's just setting yourself up to fail just try alternating water then a 'normal' drink and back to water
