I'm going in for a complete cardiac workup tomorrow (Tues) and I'm kind of nervous about it. They've told me I can expect to be at the lab for about 4 hours.

Then on thurs. afternoon I have an appointment with my GP to get my test results from last week's tests including the mammogram. I'm not really worried about the mammogram because if they'd thought it was something they would have called me right away, or at least that's normally how it works. But I'm still a little nervous about what the test results are going to be.

Blech, I really don't like going to the Dr's.

Let us know how the Doctor's appointment goes today, ok? I'm sure your mammogram will be ok -- at least I'm praying it will be!!!

Any chance your cardiac tests will be back by then? I sure hope so -- that would be great to get those results back too!!

At any rate, let us know. Will check back later & see what happened. Hugs, Lee

Thanks Christina and Lee.

Well it was another case of good news / bad news.

The good news is the results of the mammogram were negative, so nothing to worry about.

The bad news is there were lots of concerns in my blood work.

My B12 and Iron were low so I need to take supplements. Low B12 runs in my family so no big surprise there.

My blood sugar was slightly high, but she wants to retest that in 2 months, after I make attempts to reduce the amount of sugar in my diet.

My cholesterol is high, but she's willing to let me try to tackle it with diet and exercise before putting me on a med, since I really don't want to be on another med.

My testosterone and prolactine levels are both really high - she thinks it's a side effect of my psych meds so i'm to discuss my blood test results with my pdoc and get his sense on what's causing what and if the results are "normal" for the meds I'm on, otherwise she's refering me to an endocrinologist.

I'm borderline Tacchycardic with a resting heart rate of 111 bpm which is of moderate concern - again she thinks it's the psych meds so again discuss with pdoc. On the flip side, my blood pressure is on the low side of normal (90/60) so they kind of offset each other.

She didn't have my cardiac test results - she says that they take 5 to 7 days, to reach her, but she's not waiting for the results, she's putting in a referal for me to see a cardiologist. So now I have to wait for that referal. I have no idea how long it will take, but my GP is usually pretty good about getting me fast referals.

So it looks like it's going to be more tests. And I'm really hoping that I don't have to change my psych meds as they're working well for me.

Thanks Googley,

Well I met with my pdoc yesterday to go over my meds results, and he said that almost all my blood work issues were probably caused by my meds, except maybe the testosterone being high. He did a quick literature search while I was in his office, but couldn't find anything but said the most likely explanation was that it was meds.

He wants me to drop my risperidone dose by 1 mg, and see how that goes.

He's also in the next 3 weeks going to do a more thorough review of my meds and see if he can come up with some aternatives to discuss with me when i next see him. Not that I like the thought of changing meds, since mood wise the combo I'm on is going well.

As for the tachycardia, he says it could be anyone of 3 of my meds or the combination thereof. But at least I got a relatively quick appointment with the cardiologist. I go in on june 12 for another echocardiogram, and to be fitted with a holter monitor to be worn for 24 hours. Then I meet with the actual cardiologist on the 24'th. So hopefully he'll be able to come up with a course of action.

Just a little frustrating.

I'm glad they're being careful with you. I had to wear a holter monitor a few months ago, and it was a little bothersome, but not too bad. All was okay with me, so it turned out ok.

I hope the same will be true with you too. Please let us know, ok? I'll be looking for the report! LOL

Jeez, I hope they don't have to change your meds TOO much. I hate it when the meds are working fine, and then cause of something like this they have to screw with them.

I'll watch for your update. Take care! Hugs, Lee
