I'm pretty sure I have PMDD. This month, the day before my period started I was convinced that I had legit become delusional & certifiably insane. I had a panic attack that lasted for 4 days & couldn't go more than 2 hours without crying. I described it as "my soul having an emotional avalanche." Last month, the 4 days prior to my period I was fighting with everyone. Like, uncontrollable rage. I ended a 10 yr long friendship, made another friend cry by screaming at her, & got in my first physical fight in 5 yrs. Those are very uncharacteristic of me.

The thing is though, I haven't had any symptoms of even regular PMS since I was a teenager (I'm 25 now). The only warning sign I've had for the past few years is I crave chocolate & Cosmopolitan lol (the magazine, not the drink). I have been under a lot of stress lately, so I'm wondering if that just intensified my PMS or if I could possibly have PMDD?

I am on BC (Implanon), which I know can affect hormones. But I got that put in in 2010 & it isn't due to come out until Dec 2013, so I doubt that has anything to do with the sudden change. I just figured I'd offer as much information as I can.

Has anyone else experienced PMDD? Is there anything I can do to make it better?

It could be, it could also be bipolar disorder, mine is massively influenced by my cycles. You should see a doctor and get your hormones tested. If birth control makes you better you probably have PMDD but if you get worse it might be a mental health issue.

I don't have the insurance coverage to see a dr to get my hormones tested. I'm receiving free therapy at my local hospital, but unfortunately they don't offer the same for OB/GYNs or PCPs and I can't afford the co-pays. I mentioned the rage to my T last time I saw him though and he suggested I work on my impulse control and that it's most likely related to my BPD. But I am Bipolar too, so it's a little tricky to determine what's causing what sometimes.
