I've had a problem with the way I smell down there. I've been told by two gyno's that I smell just fine, and I've been put on antibiotics for BV for a few days a few months ago, but I worry about receiving oral if it smells bad.
Currently, I'm washing my ladyparts separately with Vagisil, spraying Summer's Eve deodorant when I change in the morning and before bed, and I've been trying to eat yogurt once or twice a day. When I take a bath, I plan to add apple cider vinegar to it, supposedly that helps too. So far I haven't noticed any smell, but it could be masked by the deodorant...I guess someday I'll have to get a man for a taste test. ;P I know smelling is a common issue for women; does anyone else have any remedies that have worked for them? |

I think you're worrying over nothing. Every woman has a natural smell, and most men find their women's scent pleasing. You're doing all these things that probably wouldn't change anything if you did have a smell, and it's overkill. Be careful with what you expose your vaginal area to: Sugar, chemicals and other things can lead to yeast infections. I bet 10 to 1 that your smell is normal.

Vinegar in bath water helps. I have reached an age ( guess) where things just are not "fresh". Poise (like bladder control stuff) makes little sticky tab to put on your undies to absorb funky smells. It's in a little round container. That has helped the notice ability. Summers Eve makes a powder that absorbs moisture. I think some times it has to do w/ extra warmth and moisture. Hope this helps.

I would advise you to be very careful about using Summer's Eve and Vagisil products. A woman's pH is very important, and a lot of these products (including antibiotics) often screw it up!
1. Try to stick to showers ~ bathing can mess up the pH very easily! 2. Use regular bath soap when soaping up. Stay away from the flowery ones, as they can irritate us down there. 3. Eating yogurt regularly is fine, as it has the good bacteria in there. 4. Always wear breathable, cotton underwear. 5. Don't cross you legs ~ it's bad for your back anyway & can hinder normal flow of juices. Cross at the ankles instead. Try not to worry about how you smell ~ all women have a natural smell and most men do enjoy that scent quite a bit. __________________ "Only in the darkness can you see the stars." - Martin Luther King Jr. "Forgive others not because they deserve forgiveness but because you deserve peace." - Author Unkown |

Definiately stay away from anything to be used internally. You own system has a self cleansing mechanism that works right for your body. Don't tamper w/ it.
Shez I've been meaning to tell you, love the Robin Williams picture at the bottom of your what ever you call it. I love "Mork and Mindy." |

I wash with an Italian mousse with the right ph and it works great. Do not know if there is an American product to match it. The key thing in any product is the right ph.

I'm a little confused, hamster-bamster. Are you female or male? Your status thing says, "hamster-bamster he is not responding."

Shezbut mentioned some good points. You mentioned antibiotics - sometimes they can cause yeast infection because the antibiotics kill the good bacteria and this is when yeast thrives. Try to eat plain yogurt since yeast also likes sugar or you can take a probiotic suppl. Taking a bath can often cause UTI's - reason is bacteria in the water. If I do take baths, I wash privates 1st and make sure the tub is clean.
Use mild soap in the region and if you have a hand held shower head rinse well or use a plastic cup - dry well after....can even use a blow dryer. I would stay away from any sprays and powders once you shower. Once you're showered there shouldn't be any odor. Wear panty liners to keep dry. When at home you can use wipes(made for that area) after bathroom visits or like one religion does - they use water after each bathroom visit. If you know you're going to be involved, its best to freshly wash. IMO powders and sprays make it worse. If the odor is different then you may have a yeast infection. __________________ This is our little cutie Bella *Practice on-line safety. *Cheaters - collecting jar of hearts. *Make your mess, your message. *"Be the change you want to see" (Gandhi) |

I tried out a new vibrator and I still definitely smell!
I can't smell it in my underwear or when using the bathroom because I've been washing myself with the vagisil and using deoderant, but the fluid itself smells. WTH? There's no way I can let a guy go down on me if that's what he's going to taste. =[ |

See a gynecologist and ask him or her about your smell. It should smell musky, but the scent and consistency change throughout the month.
