I am not sure if this is the correct place to post, but I am slightly concerned and could do with some advice.
For the last 4 months approx I have been experiencing period pain in the middle of my cylcle for about 3-5 days and sometimes I have a light period. This is very annoying and slightly worrying. Should I go to my Doctor. I don't want to make a fuss. My periods are very regular. I am 47 so I am wondering if this is a sign of the change and if anyone else has had these sort of symptons. I have no other symptons. I thought that the change would involve sweats and the end of periods. Any thoughts? |

You should see your gynecologist. You may have endometriosis, which is excess growth of uterine tissue. I had it. Same symptoms. These days it's a minor operation.
I could be wrong, of course, but see your doctor to rule it out. You're in my thoughts as a fellow sufferer of "the monthlies". Edit to add, yes, it could be menopause. I'm not an expert. Just please see the doctor. |

Agree. I could pretty much always tell when I was ovulating because of the pain. Sometimes I could barely get out of my car, my left leg hurt so much. My gyn also diagnosed endometriosis one time when I was in so much pain one month, I could barely stand. But she just said, wait and see if it happens again. It didn't. I was about the same age. She said it took just a tiny dot of misplaced tissue on a nerve to cause that much pain.

Thanks. I have had what seems to be period pains for 2 days now and I am having to take painkillers. I have just looked up symptons on the internet and it could possibly be early menopause symptons.
I must admit that I have never heard of this before, so I probably will take a trip to the Doctor if it continues as i have had dodgy smear tests in the past, but further tests were fine. Oh what fun it is to be a woman |

This is a really sucky situation... sorry you have these problems. I have PMDD and periods for me are horrible and can be painful and it's just so tough to deal with. It'd be a good idea to see your OBGYN if you can and ask for advice. Or a GP first... It might be just menopause coming on, but at the same time it might not be, you never know. Endometriosis seems to occur in females at any time so it's good to rule it out.
