I'm peri-menopausal and have this urge to get pregnant. Is it just last-minute hormonal thing before my body gives up the ability, or is it a psychological thing?

I haven't heard of something like that being an actual hormonal thing. Methinks it's likely caused by the ticking of your biological clock.....

I've never heard of that, either, and agree that's it's probably your biological clock. I'm not in peri-menopause yet, so I can't tell you what my experience is with that. Hopefully, somebody will post who has been through it.

I know exactly how you feel. The drive to produce a child, or another child is unfathomable. It gives you a greater understanding why birds migrate south, how whales know where to go when they migrate.

I personally believe this is gods plan. It is his way of design to be fruit ful and multiply. I can't even begin to put words to how that feels. The dreams, the gnawing away at your soul. It is on your mind all the time.

Just wait till your boobs hurt every time a baby cries. Changes your whole view of shopping. Stay away from the kids section of the store.

I do not get the materialistic part (the kids section of the store) but I SO get the hurting breasts part.

In the kids section of the store is where the kids are and the babies are. That is where the crying little people that make your boobs hurt are.

As I said, I'm not peri-menopausal, but I've never experienced this strong desire to have children you're all describing.

I have very much experienced this urge, longing and physical craving for becoming pregnant when I started to enter the final phase before menopause. Unfortunately, I haven't met anyone who could (have) helped me to fulfil this strong urge (I would have been perfectly happy with just one pregnancy and child - but it has not happened) and some things presumably can't be forced. I'm gradually trying to become better about it.
I just wanted to say I very much relate to it. A tricky topic.
