I've been in a psych hospital for the past 4 weeks, and every week a volunteer comes in on Tues, with a ton of nail polish so that the female patients can get together and do their nails and just chat. Well normally I don't pay much attention to my nails, beyond keeping them trimmed and clean, because I have to keep them short to play the harp. But I've been painting my nails each week, and have fallen in love with it -especialy bright colours. So I think as one of my be nice to me things to celebrate getting out of the hospital, I'm going to stock up on different nail polishes this weekend, so I can keep painting my nails.

They're currently pink with gold sparkles.

Awe, that's awesome! It sounds like such a great way to express yourself. And you play the harp? That's pretty cool too. I agree tho-when I want to feel girly, I try and do my nails, do something different with my hair, etc. And it should be fun, so enjoy

I agree. There is a lot to be said for feeling girly. I love painting my nails and getting manicures and pedicures. It just makes me feel more feminine and attractive. I just want to be all woman and make no apologies for it. Glad you are doing things for yourself to help your mental outlook too

I have to get back into it, but I love polishing my nails. And now, there's more, because you can add stuff like nail jewelry to make it even more interesting! There are polishes that come with two colors, meant for you to create nail art. And special effects nail polish (like the metallic/3D). I bet your pink-with-gold-sparkles nails look beautiful!

I have gotten away from this too and used to love the feeling of it, the fun colors. I will have to start doing this again to brighten my day. Thanks and here's to girl power!

I have my nails done by a salon every few weeks. One of my guilty pleasures.

I love nail polish, but focus on my toes, since I wear crazy sandals...big fan of glitter! There are so many kinds and colors out now, esp. with spring here! Have fun!

Ah yes. OPI has "liquid sand" polish and it is awesome. Part of their Mariah Carey collection and it looks beautiful: it is a sparkly, textured polish. Base coat, three coats of liquid sand then three coats of top coat and it is an outstanding look.

We deserve it.
