edit (fixing abbreviations): I am planning on going on long-term contraception and I am down to the last week of my last pack of the pill. I am not sexually active and do not plan on being sexually active until after I go on the long-term contraception. Is it safe to go off the pill until I go on my long-term contraception, considering I am not sexually active? I mean, there's no sense spending $20 on three packs of pills if I'll only be on it for two weeks.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it, I would just use back up method if u go back on, at least for the first month. What's LTC?

No, I don't believe that coming off a daily birth control pill is harmful. Don't have to taper off BC, per se

I did not have any problem with it.

Yeah, I think it's fine too.
I'm so excited, this is my official last period for the next five years! |

I am actually smiling at this one. I am closer to not having any more for the rest of my life. And um, the way they've been my whole life, I am about to do the happy dance!!

I'm really happy with what I chose for my new birth control. It's just going to really lift a huge weight off my shoulders. |

Yes, a huge weight off you shoulders, indeed!! The pill was causing this side effect?!
Hun, you are the one that wanted a tubal ligation AND this is what they offered instead?! |

When you turn 30, will you?! Will you be going for it!? I'm not trying to start that judging thread war, like what you endured, but honest to goodness....I wonder just what it is that we women end up putting in our bodies sometimes.

No, the pill solved the problem. I went on the pill to relieve my symptoms. But I don't feel safe enough to stay on the pill and be sexually active.
Since many people on this forum have bashed me for my personal choices, I'm not going to talk about my decisions or what long-term contraception I chose. I don't want people's opinions if they're going to be shallow. |

Skipper, I get that!! It's just coming from my own perspective on life, right now. Kind of part anger at the touting the BC as preventative against ovarian cancer, when my mom was on it 20+ years!! So yeah...let's not go there, here, type of choice!!
Anyways...woke up this morning. It's like my body is having that one last Hoorah!!! I've been irregular, for a couple months, even on the pill. And it's still kinda been...my last bc day for week 3 is today(spotted for 3 days now into today), type of irregular and granted all these months lighter. Today...oh no, that heavy, crampy feeling. heavy, like it used to be!! Well, not 'quite' that bad, but you may get the idea... My little...remember these, as you travel down that next stage of life!! |

Your first period off the BC pills might be heavier and the symptoms previously may return, until you start the other LT method. There is no reason to taper though, they can be stopped at anytime. Hang in there meanwhile if the previous symptoms come back meanwhile and best wishes. Always remember, our bodies, our choice.
