At what age do you remember masterbating? Even if you didn't know at the the time you didn't know what it was called. I don't mean as a toddler who puts their hands in their pants. I mean like intentionally going somewhere to do that? I'm just trying to gage what is average...

I was 11. I don't remember who I was masturbating too but I remember it was 6th grade.

I was 17. I wanted to by the time I was 14, but I was so worried about masturbation being "wrong" that I just kinda let myself suffer for 3 years. So happy I managed to overcome that belief.

I was quite young and did it in appropriate situations. I suspect it was because of CSA.

I tried as a teen but did not feel anything. Was puzzled, and never tried again.
then it sort of came to me naturally at about 19 initially it was mechanical clitoral stimulation - fantasy was added later |

Wow now I'm afraid to answer lol. I remember i started doing it intentionally on a regular basis when I was only about 4. Most of my childhood is a horrible blur but certain things are etched into my memory, this being one of them.
I always felt so dirty afterwards, even as I got older & did it. I would cry so hard & felt so much shame. I found out a couple weeks ago that a teenager in my neighborhood did something to me when I was just a little girl. Idk how I don't remember it but my mom told me. That was the 1st in a line of people to harm me that way. The others I remember bc I was an older child/teenager. Sorry for derailing the thread. I've never told anybody this & I guess I got carried away. It's been a terrible day so I'm about to overflow. |

Can't remember for myself (sort of recall around 10 or so) but, I remember my son, between 4 and 5; I was reading a story to him, and I could see this rhythmic movement under the covers, then he said "Mom. Don't look under the covers." I asked "Why?" and he said "I don't know, but don't look under the covers." I didn't, but it was hard not to crack up. I guess all he knew then was that it felt good.

My answer is similar to Tinyrabbit. I started around 4 or 5 and would do it in inappropriate places (like the classroom). I knew it was "wrong" but could not stop. I suspect it was a result of abuse.

just a comment.. I know many toddlers as young as a yr that discover it feels good and will actively masturbate to self sooth just like a child will suck their thumbs to feel better. that was me I discovered at a very young age how soothing and enjoyable it can be. I was also sexually abused at this very young age so I knew exactly what I was doing, especially when I had a "crush" on my "bestest girl friend" when I was 2 and 3 yrs old. my family tells me even back then they knew I was a lesbian because every time I thought of my friend my hands were in my pants and a rocking.
