I've had the Mirena for three weeks now, and I believe I started my period about about the same time, but my period or bleeding has not stopped since I've started the Mirena, and it's been fairly heavy as well, not soaking the pads, but having needing to change it often. Cramping has been off an on. My doctor told me that there is really no telling how the body will get used to the Mirena and that it may take a couple months to get used to, or that I may always have cramping.
How has your body reacted to the Mirena when you first inserted it, and how long did it take for your body to get used to it? Thanks. |

Drskipper, I have not tried Mirena but I know there are lawsuits pending because of bad side effects caused by it...maybe you should look it up..D.

My friend just had one put in... a week ago? But she's leaving the country for a year and I won't get a chance to talk to her about it any time soon. But the day she got it, she was in a lot of pain. I hope she's doing better now, but that's my only experience with it.
Good luck! I hope your body figures things out soon! |

Not everyone's body reacts the same way or has the same experience.

I had mirena for almost 5 years. I had bleeding for about a month to begin with, then none after that till the mirena came out.
I am pregnant now, mirena had no effect on my ability to become pregnant or sustain pregnancy one it came out. |
