I am having a biopsy for uterine cancer next week. I am told this is not a big deal, ha ha ha, although I have told them I have panic disorder, doctors are good about being deaf when they like.

I am bleeding after two years of complete menopause (no menstral periods), have been for six weeks. After an ultrasound and a test to make sure my cervix is okay (it is), they determined my uterus is normal and has very little extra tissue growth (the normal cause of bleeding).

I am concerned because, while one of my ovaries has shrunk down to the size of a raisin, which is normal (according to nurse), the right one is still rather large. I have asked them whether this ovary should be biopsied also, since the source of hormones is the ovaries--why is this ovary continuing to send out hormones? I am frustrated because the doctors won't pay attention to my concerns.

I have a very active sex life with my husband and if these surgeries affect my orgasms, I am going to be extremely sad (jeez, like I need more sadness in my life). This concern is also tossed away by the doctors. Their attitude seems to be: multiple, intense orgasms in a woman of 55? You don't need those.

Yes I do!!!

I would love replies for advice or support. Thanks everyone.

Perhaps your hub can go with you and hold your hand through the biopsy?

It's a good thing that your ovary is still sending out hormones. Really! Otherwise, you would be entering menopause...which I've heard from many sources that it can often be rather uncomfortable. There are, however, many different sources for women to turn to when we are having hot flashes, vaginal dryness, difficulty sleeping, very emotional times, and so on. Thank goodness!!

I had three separate Uterine Scrapes for my uncontrolled bleeding. It can be somewhat uncomfortable, but it is pretty quick. I was not through menopause when I had this issue. They also did tests that showed no problems. Have they checked your hormone level? Thyroid? There are actually different parts of the body that can effect this. Are the doctors you're seeing men? Sometimes they just don't get it, though I did have an female gyno who didn't get that I wanted to still feel aroused and satisfying sex when I was near fifty. All I got was a response of, well you are getting older and that's to be expected. That is BS as I know a few women and men in their eighties who still enjoy an active sex life. It was very frustrating and no one has really helped me with the issue. I'm assuming it is actually somehow med related. I had hoped going back on hormones would help but it didn't. I miss it, but am a little too embarrassed to bring it up because of what happened the last time.

Good luck.

I hear you, about fear of losing the ability to have an orgasm! 55, 38, 20, even 80, geesh!!

I had an ovarian cancer scare, back at the end of June. I had, an u/s, as part of the routine for me, since I am high risk, due to my mom, dying from ovarian cancer. I had an egg caught ovulating on the u/s, and the doctor was concerned due to family history and I was braced to have a hyst with ovary removal.

Sorry, to read, you need a uterine biopsy. Hope your husband can be there, for you, to hold your hand. Were you advised, to take Tylenol or Motrin, or some OTC pain reliever at least 30 minutes prior??

What other symptoms, are you displaying, to raise concern about ovarian cancer? Have you had the CA-125 blood draw? That would show elevated levels, that would determine, if you have an ovarian cancerous inflammation.
