Im scared. I found out two days ago I have an infected, ingrown pubic hair. I don't shave, but when I found a lump, I plucked the hair I needed to away to see and it started leaking pus. The internet said it was probably an ingrown hair and that a doctor would make an incision to let out the pus.
I really don't like to be touched at all. I dress very conservatively, and hate doctors. I have had past CSA and am 18, and have no friends, and emotionally abusive parents.
So anyways, I sterilized an exacto knife and made a 1cm long, 1cm deep cut and squeezed out as much pus as I could. And I sterilized the area. I did that a couple times a day (2-3ish) and used antibiotic ointment as well as antiseptic wipes.
But it didn't seem to get better. Today, chunks of something came out. I don't know if it was like fat from me, or something. But the pus is usually clear, with a good amount of blood too.
But I am really worried that something is wrong, and that I need to see a doctor. I am just really scared to go. And I don't have anyone to go to. So, I am writing here.....

Ohhh, ST , those ingrown hairs are no fun!!! If it ever happens again--resist the urge to xacto as you could invite a larger infection!

Ingrown hairs often resolve themselves, much as any zit does. Just keep it clean and a hot washcloth on it to get it to burst.

I'm not a dr, but if stuff comes out of the wound it could be the oil/dried pus that was causing the blockage to begin with OR if round jelly like things come out--those are indeed fat cells.

Keep it clean, use Neosporin on it and see if it heals on it's own in a few days. But if you are worried, see a dr and explain your history. Maybe a dr can just look w/out touching or can give you some directions.

Wishing you healing!!!!

Ingrown hairs are very annoying! But also very very common. Doctors deal with this kind of thing all the time.

Keep putting antiseptic cream on it, try not to dig at it or squeeze it for a few days and see if that helps.
