Do you know any reasonably-priced ONLINE retailers that sell comfortable bras with thick straps? Not necessarily sports-bra thick, but 0.5-0.67 inches will do. Most of my bras are from Victoria's Secret, and they only sell things with teensy straps.

Currently, my best bra is a cheap, comfortable, pretty, 10-year-old bra from Marks and Spencer (bought when I was in the UK). It has withstood repeated ironing, washing machine cycles, and hand-washing. It is as supportive as it was when I bought it. No malformations.

I hand-wash most of my lingerie, albeit not always. My VS bras fade and become malformed after 2-3 washes. It would be a miracle to find something as great as my M&S bra.

Thanks!

If anyone knows of such a bra, I am also looking! For my work, I really need a sports bra, but one that has shape to it and has fairly wide straps.

I shop for them, sometimes at TJ Maxx. Wide variety of brands, to choose from. Gosh, when was the last time, I've had a VS bra? Last time, I went in there, all they had was padded bras, as it were. I have a couple in black, and a couple in white/off white and those last until they don't last any longer. .5in strap? Can be found. Used to have issues buying before the mammoplasty. Issues, be gone. Hope you find one that is suitable.

Lady Grace and Fashion Bug have had reasonably priced ones that have always been durable, and they also have great sales at times, even better to watch for.

I think the best bra I purchased was a Glamorise Magic Lift Plus. When I went off to college, the lady in Macy's bra department recommended Bali Double Support, which also was my go-to bra for PE class. I'm a bit "top heavy," so I can't wear the thin straps.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will check them out. If anyone else has suggestions, please chime in! A good bra makes so much difference, especially for those of us who are on the busty side. I'm pretty desperate right now.

Moving comfort is very well made. They are not cheap however you can sometimes get last seasons color cheap on amazon. I second glamorize. I just got two off of amazon. They are not for anything high impact but they fit and they seem well made.

I may have just pulled out a ruler to measure the width of my strap. 1/2".

Unfortunately, this bra was NOT cheap. It's called Jude by Cleo by Panache (a mouthful, I know). The website I like to look at is figleaves.com. They have an "outlet" section (and I may have just noticed that they have this style bra, in my size, 50% off...).

Thanks for responding! Is this the bra you're talking about? (Cleo by Panache, Jude Moulded T-shirt Bra at figleaves.com) It's really cute, although not available in my size. There are some bras on the site in my size that are not on sale. Do you recommend this model/brand?

You can order online from Marks & Spencer, and right now they have free shipping to the U.S. on orders over 30 pounds (I don't know the exchange rate, so don't know the amount in dollars).

January, the Glamorise isn't available in my band size, but I just ordered a Bali Double Support. Hopefully this will work out. Most of the time I wear my sports bras for relief, but they're thick and neon colored, and hence inappropriate for many settings.

Title Nine. They sell non-sports bras, too. They have excellent customer support and a no questions ask return policy. Visa and Master Card only (in case you use AmEx).

Title Nine tests bras. Thousands of bras. They have many testers and they test each size and not just cup B. I have rwad that the industry standard is to only have live testers with cup B, and once their feedback goes into the final version of cup B, other sizes are adjusted by the computer without live testing. I read it a while ago and maybe things have improved, but at any rate, Title IX tests every size live.
