So I have always been on a low dose pill(lutera) and because of the side effects I started having even after being on it for so long my doctor put me on a higher dose pill(apri). Well, everything started out okay, but the week prior to and the week of placebo pills, I went into a crazy hormonal rage. I kid you not, I knew I wasn't myself, one moment I was crying the next I could of strangled someone. It was scary, I was scaring myself. 3 months in, and it's lightened up. I'm no longer feeling homicidal PMS, but the PMS is still pretty severe. Has anyone else had these issues with bc? How do you manage? My doctor said it should level out after a while.... But I'm curious.

Hi, pandabear, and welcome to Psych Central! I have not taken bc pills, so I can't say that I have had this problem. Maybe some other folks will speak up soon.

I am glad your hormonal rages have calmed down. That experience sounds very upsetting--worse than the hormonal emotional issues during the teenage years.
