I am 22 years old. I have had a lump in my right breast for a year now. I had an ultrasound and it was okay. They said just monitor it. This year it apparently has doubled in size. They want to biopsy it. That just makes me nervous. I do have anxiety disorder so the unknown is freaking me out. The doctor said he is not really worried. Just a precaution which I am glad for that. Still nerve wracking...has anyone else had this?

even without an anxiety disorder i think i would fear the unknown...everybody says lumps in your breasts are bad...what the hell are you supposed to think? it is kind of hard to NOT worry. hopefully you can trust your drs opinion enough to quell those anxious feelings. just get it over with as quickly as possible so you have your answer soon and dont have to worry any more. good luck and take care.

Its scary! You have every right to be afraid. Doctors are really good at telling you not to worry, but its not their body.

While the words "lumps in your breast" can send fear running through out your body please try to remain calm until the results come in, as many of lumps biopsied in a breast come back benign in origin and or just water filled cyst that are monitored. I personally have had three lumps in one breast and two lumps in the other breast that my doctor has been watching for well over ten years now and they have all been nothing more than a simple cyst. (((hugs)))

Not to scare you, but it is better to know what it is your dealing with, from my experience anyway. I have been sick for a year now with random symptoms, and was finally diagnosed (not a breast related thing however). And even though I am sick, I was relieved after the diagnosis as I finally knew what I was dealing with!!
Perhaps this lump has been worrying you this past year, in which case I'd say a biopsy shouldn't scare you, because it could liberate you from worrying about it any longer ![]() So as Rhapsody said, try to remain CALM, it could very well be harmless. Either way, you'll be alright! And if it comforts you in any way, I had a lump that turned out to be nothing too! So good luck! You'd be surprised at how strong and brave you can be when scary stuff happens, anxiety and all ![]() Soon to be cancer survivor!! What-what! |

I had a breast biopsy and the results were benign--as most of the time they are. Do please have it checked. The doc would tell you if he was really concerned. It will be a relief to find out it's nothing to worry about.
The biopsy doesn't hurt at all. ![]() ![]() |

Yes, do have the biopsy, it never hurts to check. I'm sure your doctor would tell you if he thought it was something to really worry about. If something was really been going on it would have showed on the sonogram. I'm sure he is being throrough. So I'm sure that it will be okay.
BTW, I'm a 11 year survivor of breast cancer.
