A month ago, I was on my period and I developed a new fear that made me extremely anxious and depressed. The weeks after my period was over, it was like a roller coaster, I had better and bad days but I was more distracted. Now, for 2 days ago I started getting severely anxious and depressed again and I started my period today. Does anyone have an idea whats going on? Do you think my period is causing this???

it could be related. I think it may be a good conversation to have with either your gyn, or your therapist if you have one... I know I get much worse around my period if I'm already in a rough emotional space...

Hi pisces, this is a long shot, but I'm mentioning it because few people know: just before the period, your body produces less DAO - this is an enzyme that breaks down histamine. So less DAO means more histamine. And if you are sensitive to histamine, symptoms like anxiety and depression can be the result.
Some women benefit from taking vitamin b6, but please don't take anything without checking with a doctor. |

Yes, I would say you are being effected by the up and downs of your hormones during your monthly cycle which can disturb the normal actions of many females during this time. I was dx with PMDD when I started having these exact same issues and even became suicidal a few days out of every month during the first three days of my period. I am on Celexa for my PMDD and Mood Swings and life is so much better now that I no longer have to fear that gnawing dread of death each month.
