I am about to turn 20 and the past two days I've noticed severe lower abdominal pain or cramps that are on the right side and back. I got this pain, not directly after, but when I woke up the next morning after i had masturbated that night. I will be honest here, I have been masturbating since I was 15 and have never experienced intense pain after an orgasm. I didn't think much of it because I had had my period about two weeks ago. So the second time I masturbated, immediately after I orgasmed I got sever cramps. Then came a pain I've never felt before. This sharp, needle like stab that made me feel like I was going to pee on myself. I quickly ran to the bathroom, but could not pee unless I forced. The pain continued for about 20 mins and stopped along with the cramps. I have always had extremely painful periods. I was on birth control the same year I got my period. The pills helped and shortened my periods from a week and a half to about three days. I got off of them because I started gaining weight, even tho I was active (still am). I didn't have any problems until one time last year when I got my period while out of town with friends. I had to stay in the car and lie down and just cry my eyes out. Heat has always made the pain go away, no medicines like Midol helped me. Also my periods are more sever if I am on my feet a lot working or walking. I also notice I get cramps now, if I eat any foods or drink anything except water.mim not sure if this is related but when I am on my period I can't eat because I cramp more.

My mother had Endo, and now I think I have too. Can anyone give me advice or help me?

Is it just during PMS? I know sometimes when hubby and I have sex it hurts afterward. I think with the change of our bodies during that time our organs are sore.

At any rate it never hurts to see a doctor.

I can understand your concern and hope that you find some relief soon.

Unfortunately, the only way to diagnosis endometriosis is with a laparascopy; it is annoying that that is the only way they can see it for certain. However, there are several other things that can mimic endometriosis, including things such as cysts and fibroids just as some examples, that can cause the same symptoms though, and can be diagnosed with an ultrasound typically, less invasive, and is typically done first to rule out them out before proceeding with a laparascopy; on the other hand, with a family history and after ruling everything else out, through ultrasound and lab tests, they may diagnose and treat someone for endometriosis on that basis without a laparascopy.

As you mentioned, the cramps can be helped with heat and then many have also found help with Evening Primose oil, which blocks prostaglandin production that is what causes the cramping, or over the counter NSAIDS like naproxen sodium (aleve) or ibuprofen (motrin). It may take some time to find the right birth control pill or hormone treatment that will control symptoms of the pain, cramping, and specificaly the bleeding, but yet not gain weight or less weight that could be controlled with diet and exercise, but it is out there.

There is help; talk to your doc about what is going on. They can truly help. You do not have to suffer through this; the symptoms can be eased and with fewer side effects. It may take some trial and error, but the right combination is out there for you. I hope you find some answers and help soon. Hang in there.

I don't want to belittle your problem, but three instances of pain wouldn't have me running to the doctor asking to be diagnosed with endo. As was mentioned, the only way to diagnose and remove it is by surgery. Then you can find a birth control that works for you to prevent it from growing back. I have endo, and I had severe pelvic pain ever since my first period at 14. It didn't go away after that time of the month either. After several dozen ultrasounds over the years, every type of birth control, and me begging for a hysterectomy from the age of 15 to 21, I finally had a lap and indeed, my insides were full of endo. They cauterized it, hopefully got it all, and I've been on the nuvaring nonstop ever since (my doc doesn't want me having any periods at all).

Does d pelvic pain occurs in cyclical pattern, does d pain colicky (come n go but last for 20min) or just persistently pain for 20min?? Coz endometrio is estrogen dependent, started usually hours or days before every menstrual period and is non-colicky. Btw, cyst and fibroid can be diagnosed clinically by bimanual palpation and further confirmed by u/s. Anyway, better go for a gynecological check-up. Prevention better than cure get benefit from early treatment if anything does happen but nothing is better. Don't worry, since u r at early 20s, even if diagnosed with endo, they'll start u on medical unless they'r so sure that u hv endo that is life threatening or medical is ineffective or u ask for surgical only then they'll proceed with surgical. Anyway, hope get well soon.
