Pain from the Mirena

I am having constant pain from the mirena since I got it inserted about 5 months ago. The cervix pain subsided after 10 days but the pain in my uterus has been constant and the same for 5 months. I was told to expect pain but I didnt expect it to be constant. I have barely had the heat pack off for the entire time I have had it in.

I still have 2/3 months to go to see the full benefits so I wont get it removed yet but Im wondering does the pain go away after the initial 6 - 8 months? Or will it be the same?

I am not due to see the gyno for another month or so, since the appointments are so expensive I am not going to go in earlier than planned but the pain is starting to become unbearable.

If I need to get it removed I need to put plans in place for the PMDD. So far I have had very few benefits from the Mirena but a lot of problems (threw me into a mixed episode that had me hospitalised twice). I was told it would settle but its so hard to wait. Since I got it I have lost my best friend and boyfriend, I doubt that would have happened without the mixed episode. I am starting to get fed up.

I have pain that seems to be from the cervix on and off too and I got the mirena put in 2 and half years ago. I don't know what to do either but just live with it. I got the Mirena so I would have my period be stopped, cause it kept going on for months. It took a good 3 months after insertion for the period to completely stop and after that I got no period at all. But some days I do have the pain and it is a sharp pain too. I am thinking about seeing my gyno, and if I do, I'll let you know what he says.

I looked into Mirena at one point because I have heavy bleeding. I stumbled onto a website where women were sharing horror stories about it and the many problems they were having from it.

I have since tried unsuccessfully to find the site. I was amazed at the large number of women and the severity of their side effects. Scared me away!

I was still having pain after 6 months, every day, it also triggered my depression badly too. I had it removed 6 months ago and the pain got better within days, sadly the depression hasn't. However, my heavy bleeding returned big time and the oral progesterone I was given instead caused worse pain and worse depression and paranoia too. If you can stick with Mirena then it is probably the lesser of two evils but it isn't an easy choice that's for sure.

I'd get it checked. i had the mirena for three years before i got it taken out so we could have our second. i never had any pain except for the initial cramping. i'd get a little crampy around my periods which eventually disappeared (as did the cramps and i get horrible, knock me on my *** cramps).

it was really low maintenance for me and i loved it, but i also know that not everyone is the same and if i were having pain, i'd want that checked by a doc. there are risks involved with anything and i don't think you should be having pain (what kind of pain is it?).
