With the exception of my gothic clothing, which I pretty much gave up wearing but still have, I'm wearing the same stuff now that I was wearing in high school. I'm 34.

As long as you don't look in the mirror & think, wow, I look ridiculous, then I think you can wear what you want. I worried about dressing my age for a little while when I turned 30. I felt like I should be changing my entire wardrobe to be "more mature". But after a while I said screw that because then I'll be unhappy & uncomfortable.

As long as I am dressed appropriately for whatever situation I'm in, I wear what I want. I still wear tees from Aeropostale, I still wear hoodies, I wear sarcastic tees, I always wear tennis shoes, I'm lucky enough to get away with wearing tees & jeans to work almost year-round.

My gf is 30 & she has Converse in every darn color. Wear them to your heart's content!

This is easy - if you look like a tart, you're doing it wrong.

In this country we are free to wear whatever we want. That does not mean that wearing everything is advisable. Like it or not people judge us by our appearance and they can be pretty nasty about it. perhaps it is unfortunate but it is the way it is. If we dress in "costumes" people label us and often that restricts our available choices in life.
I try to find things that make me feel good about myself and enhance my attitude and self esteem, not things that are designed to shock others. At age 29 I would be moving toward wearing things that enhance your image as young adult woman not a teenager.

Finally the culture of the place you work has a lot to do with what is appropriate. That varies around our country and certainly between countries. I always try to ask myself does what I am wearing enhance the person I know that I am and the image I want to project. A lot of time the advice and opinions of other women whose judgment you respect are helpful. After all most of us women need to continually ask "How do I look?"

Ever considered a different job? Seems way too much over there, imo. If it looks good, looks appropriate, what's their deal, anyways?

Who doesn't wear converse??

You have your own style. I don't expect going on 30 means you must start dressing like my 80 something year old gram, who goes for comfort at her age..

Drop the hipsters and gstrings for the granny panties, get a super short hairdo, that actually resembles their own youth, with curlers and yeah...

So what, you've a t-shirt with a cat, shorts with tights and converse. Sounds rockin to me...

I have a uniform for work so no problems there. 29 is just a weird age and to me, you do have to readdress what you wear.

I've always thought one should dress for the occasion/context first, age second. 29's not too old, my Econs tutor is 34 and looks 24. If you look and feel young, definitely flaunt it! And by that I don't mean to let things hang out, but emphasise your assets in a classy way and hide anything you don't like tastefully.

The clothes you mentioned are typical-teenager but hey, don't let the crowd it's most popular with stop you from wearing them if you find them comfortable. I'm sure you'll look gorgeous in anything.

You go girl!

I am just not sure how a typical 29 year old dresses. The ones I know either wear sports brands for leisure wear and things like that. I just don't want to appear immature but don't want to look like a granny either.

I worry about this sometimes. I'm in my twenties as well and still shop in the stores I shopped in my teens for the most part. The "older" stores seem too old, and I can't see myself dressing in those types of clothes. But then at the same time, I worry that people think I'm a teenager because of the way I dress. There needs to be more stores aimed at people our age! I feel like stores either target teenager or women 35+.

EH, it seems some woman decide to become boring once they hit the 20s. It's sad, actually.

Many People in their twenties are still trying to get comfortable with who they are. I think some are trying on the "grown-up" costume, which is likely because they're trying to break in and establish themselves in their field.

If you are trying to readdress your look, to suit you, the active leisure way, isn't the best model example. Instead of printed t shirts, substitute with short sleeve shirts and blouses. What styles inspire you, in a high fashion sense? Not saying same price tag, but looking there, is a start towards, stepping up into more ladylike looks, but without sacrificing tastes. And without sacrificing youth. Personally, your described style sounds more pleasant than gym wear.

Im 47 with my nose pierced . Always had a uniform for working (healthcare) But I wear Jeans tshirts and yes I have converse that I love and someone would have to pry them from my hands ..

For work I would say just skirts and a blouse or slacks .. you know just your basics.... not neon green or yellow. Wear what you feel comfortable in.. There is not list anywhere that says you have to wear X clothing when your hit age X ...

Just do your thing

Hey, I'm 40, although I do like to alter my birthday from 74 to 84 or 94 cause that's about how old I feel! My husband says that I'm a perpetual teenage. Oh well, you're only as old as you feel. And I say if it looks good on you, then wear it. Although, I do stay away from the shirts with animals on them, I think they look just a little too young, like elementary school for me, and i don't think anyone with any cellulite who doesn't have a professional airbrushing system to follow them around should never wear spandex, EVER! And let's admit it, unless you're a child, even the smallest of us, and I'm a size 2, we all have a little bit of cellulite, unfortunately. That s**t is so invasive! It's like ivy in a garden, once it's there, you can never get rid of it no matter how hard you try. So, be proud, go shopping with your girlfriends who will be honest with you about what looks great on you, and then, wear what you want to!
