Hi,

I am terrible at remembering to go back on my contraceptive pill after the 7 day monthly break (I know it's awful and careless which is why I am opting for the bar or coil)

The past few days I have been significantly more depressed and anxious after quite a good long spell of feeling good. My temper has been outrageous and my poor hubby has put up with a lot The last time I felt like this was when I had again forgot to go back on the pill. Could the answer to my severe mood swings be so simple? No doubt I have mental health issues but if this is contributing to it, then I can make a huge difference by taking them as I should. I am thinking of setting an alarm on my phone to remind me when the 7 days is up?

I have googled it and found some results but I just wondered if anyone here has had the same experience?

Could forgetting to take the pill lead to depression and anxiety?

The side effects do list depression, and to talk with your Dr. My PDoc is aware of the fact I am on the pill. He and I haven't discussed that side effect, as I'm in for regular check ups on my depression and anxiety.

I just uploaded a new phone app, that's for my medical stuff. I put in a daily reminder. And I don't clear it off my phone, until I take my pill. I'm the type that likes my phone back to normal, so it works for me.
Will you be starting a fresh pack, at your next cycle?

(App is Healow)

hi

No I just started taking them as soon as I realised I missed them again! So is what I am reading nonsense? So my experiencing depression and anxiety have nothing to do with missing my pill for a length of time. It is just that the last time I felt bad, I already noted I had missed going back on by 5 or 6 days which is near enough 2 weeks off them!

It's ok. I will just take them as I should and if I forget again, with same problems arising, well, I then know

Not saying it's nonsense, just stated my pdoc and I haven't discussed any concerns over my pill use and depression/ anxiety, as I'm being treated for depression and anxiety through regular check ups. I haven't presented with any changes in a long time.

To add, I see him every six to eight weeks. The most I've forgotten my pill is two days. The mentioned phone app, is helping me not forget any. I downloaded that after my last pdoc appointment in August.

I think it is possible for that to be related.
Hormones have a huge effect on our bodies, so the up and down that happens when you forget could be causing some depression

I just picked up my refill, today. Went through the fine print.

It is listed, as a side effect. I wasn't trying to be dismissive, I'm pointing out, the importance of what the fine print states. Which, I am following. I'm on them because of...cancer prevention
Could forgetting to take the pill lead to depression and anxiety?

And here's where it states, if you have depression, be checked often..

I had no idea of the amount of side effects!

Sorry Healing..I didn't think you was being dismissive I appreciate your help!

I think I have experienced and read enough to believe my missing them for more than 3 or 4 days is effecting my moods in a big way. I found a forum full of women with the same problems.

I also have break outs of acne which I also noticed was when I forgot to take it for more than 3 or 4 days. I was also bloated and generally felt crappy.

I guess the answer is simple - take the pill on time
