i admired Ann Richards, former Governor of Texas and Molly Ivins, writer...they are both deceased.....i admired Stanley Edwards who was a friend of mine for about 40 years. when she was in her 80s, she drove to a University and got another degree. this one in landscape design. my mother organized and got every grave identified in the local cemetery and got it fenced when she was in her 70s.

Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton - suffragettes
Margaret Sanger - birth control advocate
Madalyn Murray O'Hair - fought for separation of church and state
Anne Bonny and Grace O'Malley - female pirates
Drew Barrymore - overcame addiction in childhood and a "wild" reputation to become a respected actress
Mary Shelly - famous female author, who wrote FRANKENSTEIN
Dr. Ruth - promoted sexual education

There are many women whom I admire and respect, and to whom I'm grateful for their contributions.

another one... I admire Kate Winslet. She refused to cave to the pressure of Hollywood's body ideals, and still managed to be a raving success in her career. And, I think she looks terrific, curves and all.

Pat, your dog is a hero! I hate idiots that think animals aren't deserving of love, affection, and welfare!

Other Hollywood ladies whom I admire for not caving into body image stereotypes are America Ferrara, Queen Latifah, and Margaret Cho.

Of course, we should admire female doctors, scientists and other extremely intelligent ladies, plus women in bodybuilding and physical arenas and politics, but I admit, like most women, I'm not as informed on as many of them as I am on Hollywood actresses and performers.

I'm thankful to all those behind Planned Parenthood as well.
