Hahahahahahaha. I never knew it could be from sex? I always thought it was for people that aren't clean. Maybe that's what kids in school thought of me.
But when I told teachers or friends I said it was a bladder infection just to cover it up! __________________ "I tried to be perfect, but nothing was worth it. I don't believe it makes me real." |

The doctor actually drew a drawing to show me why sex causes a UTI. I'll try to explain it here without it being too graphic.....
She drew a view of how she would see the female area if she were doing an exam. If you look it it that way, the clitoris is on top, then the urethra (where we urinate from) and then the vaginal hole. She said this: "Its a design flaw really. In order for sex to feel good, the clitoris needs to be stimulated, but its on top of the urethra. So the penis goes in and out of the vaginal hole, which brings all that bacteria up passed the urethra. The urethra is a just a short tube to the bladder where all the warm urine sits, which is the perfect medium for bacteria to grow." I cracked up with her whole design flaw thing. And this is also why if you pee directly after sex, you can prevent UTI's, because you're flushing out the bacteria that was just put there. That's also why its important to wipe from front to back. Don't know why I never knew these details until I was 28.....lol. So I'm glad I can share them with you Jess. __________________ |

Haha. I was about to draw what you were trying to say but that would be a little weird if my mom found my drawing sitting on the computer desk!
But I understand now. I was always thinking "What does SEX have to do with this!? They're two different holes!" __________________ "I tried to be perfect, but nothing was worth it. I don't believe it makes me real." |

Sex and genes; not everyone gets UTIs if the "spacing" is better and a lot of people do get it from the "not clean"/wrong way wiping situation :-) My vet explained that's why my boy cat gets UTI's more often than my girl and when he was neutered had to have "special" and daily change of litter for a week or two until he healed to make sure he wouldn't get infected.

They can also come from, holding urine in for too long, or muscles constricting due to high stress going on in one's life.
Sometimes people with kidney stones can get bleeding as they pass. Lot of other reasons than the more common ones mentioned in this thread. Either way, UTI's literally are a pain. Take care now, DE __________________ |
