Hey everyone!

I'm thinking of going the medication route.... Possibly. I just started nuvaring like a few days ago. I've been curious about antidepressants and if they affect birth control and its effectiveness.

I would beyond depressed if u became pregnant. I just couldn't do that any time soon. But I'm wrecking myself with this depression.

Any any advice or experiences?

I'd try to google "nuvaring" and whatever antidepressant you're thinking of taking. There are interaction sites which will tell you if two drugs/substances interact with one another. Here you're only going to get a few responses which most definitely won't tell you the whole story, so that's why its important to go to those sites to see the data on interactions.

I know for some that birth control helps mood issues, and for some it makes them spike sky high. Fortunately you're on the nuvaring so you can stop at any time.

I personally can't take anything that messes with my hormones. Last time I tried it took my body years to reset itself.

I hope it works out for you! Good luck!

Thanks a bunch! I haven't been prescribed anything so I don't know what a doctor would prescribe. I have looked up a few on my own just to get an idea. I just thought I'd ask and reach out to anyone who may have had issues.

I have only started the nuvaring just this past Sunday. Idk if maybe the constant hormones will help with my mood swings or make it worse. We will see! I'm just so against having kids. At least me having kids. I can barely handle myself let alone a a child!

Thanks for the tidbit thought!

I was on the combined and mini pill whilst taking sertraline and the nurse said that it was fine. It's an SSRI. Double check with your dr/nurse tho x
