Well, I recently went to the doctor about the health problems I was having, including upper back pain that was near chronic and made it difficult to sleep sometimes, and she had me take a blood test. When everything came back okay, she said I should see a therapist. My back pain started some years back, and I usually crack it throughout the day to reduce the pain.
I feel bad now because I realize what is likely causing my back pain, especially since it's upper back pain only. I have 34 DD boobs, which are big, but I didn't think they were big enough to cause back pain. Nowadays, I think they are the cause. It doesn't help that in the past I wore poorly-fitting bras, either. Nowadays, I should be wearing one, but bras make my back pain worse and I just wear layers that hide my bra-less boobs . I wonder why the doctor didn't even mention anything about possible causes of my back pain. Wouldn't she have gotten a hint when I told her it was only my upper back? I just feel bad the doctor sent me away and I had to figure it out on my own, I suppose. Does anyone have any recommendations to reduce upper back pain caused by "the girls," or any bra recommendations? It'd be so much help. Right now I'm trying to improve my posture, and massages and showers are quick fixes, since it relaxes the back muscles. I'd be happy to listen to anyone else's stories, too. |

I used to wear long-line bras, that did up in the front and either went half-way down my back or all the way. Not sexy but it did help with the pain. Now I have the issue that they don't make them for H-cups

I injured my back a couple of years ago and have been in severe back pain since. Recently, my pdoc prescribed Cymbalta (SNRI) and it's amazing! The back pain is vastly improved.

Thanks, technigal. I'll look into longline bras, thanks so much! I didn't know about those. I'm sorry you can't find any your size . I've learned that for larger sizes, the options dwindle. I used to buy cheap bras from walmart, but now I have to buy more expensive ones since they have none my size. And there's still not too many options. I can imagine how it must be harder with an H cup.
Thank you, Laurie. I've been thinking of taking aspirin when the pain gets bad, and I'll keep in mind that there are other medications out there I can talk to my doctor about. I'm glad to hear it helped you out so much. |

Is reduction surgery an option? If not, I highly suggest a bra fitting. Nordstrom has them, I think. Don't go to Victoria's Secret. They will tell you you're a size they happen to carry...

Glamorize makes some supportive bras for larger sizes. I got mine through mail order from JC Penney but lots of online stores carry them. They are not that expensive, at least for bras.
www.breakoutbras.com was really nice about getting information about my issues with bras and recommending several types to try and then mailed them to me. One of their recommendations is my favorite bra ever but right now I'm wearing the cheaper glamorize because of money. __________________ Bipolar 1, PTSD, GAD, OCD. I'm a 36D but I get pain in my breasts, back, shoulders and have a rash on my left breast that flairs more often than not. Bras are so hard to find. I currently only wear them when going out for short appointments and mostly stick with no underwire. Bali makes a really comfortable no underwire bra. You'd wear a size medium in this bra and it's reasonably priced with good sales often. I own a lot of these and they are the next best thing to no bra for me. Here is a link to them:
