Hi.

I went for an ultrasound on my Pelvic on Monday and the results came back that I have a fibroid. I don't really know much about them but the doctor says that sometimes women get them when nearing the end of her periods. Doctor suggested having the coil or mini pill so I chose the mini pill because my periods have been irregular.

Anyone know anything about them?

Hi Lily, I'm sorry, I don't know much about fibroids, but I am waiting for an appointment for a pelvic ultrasound. There's a lot of inof online about fibroids. Did you have any symptoms?
Thanks for this!

Hi Laurie.

I was having irregular periods. I thought that I was starting menopause so my doctor sent me for blood tests which showed that I wasn't so she sent me for a pelvic ultrasound and I got the results the next day. I have also been having backache which is also connected to the fibroids.

Is there any treatment for your fibroids, or do you just have to live with the situation?

We just found a fibroid. My family doc said that there is a medication you can take to shrink the fibroid instead of having it surgically removed.

Hi Lily,
I hope your doing well.
Okay fibroids.
I've had them. The best I can tell you is
that they seem to come out of nowhere.
I discovered I had them well I'll just say at a most
uncomfortable time in my life. My cycles were really horrible.
Don't want to gross you out.
I went for an ultra sound. But I was clueless myself.
All I know is that they are either harmful or non harmful.
There is a different word for it malignant or something like that but I get the terms mixed up.
It got so bad I did go on the pill for awhile, however since I have that nasty habit (smoking) I went on the mirena IUD. I noticed you called it a coil.
So I was on the IUD.
I won't go further.
But I will say if you don't mind that we women sure do go through ALOT of pain & suffering don't we?
Thank you for sharing. Cause I didn't have anyone to share what I went through at the time I went through it.
Take care!

I have several fibroids. I am doing nothing for them. Apparently they will go away once you go through menopause. If I have symptoms from them, I am not aware of it.

They are usually not malignant so much so that it isn't even worth testing. They get larger with estrogen so try not to eat estrogenic foods.

When my SIL brought home her first ultrasound I thought the baby was a fibroid-- that is how big it was. But it was no problem.
