I've developed a few in my armpits, and under area bra is over.
I've read and heard, they are not due to weight gain or diabetes, but can commonly occur in areas where something rubs against, sweat gland areas and heredity. I just started getting them,I'm 50, and I've been linking them to aging and excessive sweating from the damn, hot flashes. I need to eventualy have them removed, they get snagged when I shave. Hubby had a few on his face, and were "burnt" off with cauterization, he felt hardly any discomfort. There are different techniques of removal, I guess it depends on which one your doc uses and possibly location and/or size of the tag(s). Lots of luck on what you decide to do with them. My gram had them and when we were little kids, they referred to them as "bread crumbs", but to me "tags" make more sense. __________________ |

I think shaving can cure a multitude of skin complaints! I mean... They are only going to cut / burn them off... If you steralise (with an alchohol solution) and cut them off by shaving them with a sharp razor then steralise them again (with an alcholol solution) and care for them, then I don't see that you aren't doing anything that a doctor would be doing for them...
I get warts sometimes. When I was little I got one on the inside of my right thumb. That one got numbed off. A few months later I got one on my left thumb. That one got cut off. Since then I got one starting on my right knee... But I used to shave nearly daily. Sometimes It would bleed... But I kept shaving so it never got a chance to develp properly and eventually it gave up. Sometimes I get itchy on the inside of my thumb and I can tell a wart is trying to take there... I bite the skin off so it doesn't take... Dunno... I guess I avoid doc's as much as possible. But: If it it benign and it is a surface affliction in a place where scarring doesn't matter then.. I guess I'd rather take care of it myself if possible... |

When cut "off" during shaving, they bled and returned, zapping them with cauterization, for some reason, seems to keep them away, hubby's facial ones never returned.
Scarring under armpits doesn't bother me at all, it's the annoyance of those little tags. Especially when you can't see the tags due to nearsightedness, etc. under the pits, and nick them. I've been lucky with one, that hasn't returned, yay!! The tags that aren't in the way of shaving or chafing discomfort of certain clothing, I just leave them alone, they're not life threatening and I'm not vain, sooooooooooo I wear my "tags" on. LOL!! I have too much happening in my world to let them bother me, even cut back on having hairless pits for awhile, but will take care not to grow "Brillo" pads. LOL!! Take care, DE __________________ |

wow this has been an interesting subject
i went to doc and told the two that are causing me discomfort he said that he would arange for me to have those two removed he also said if female person had time she might do some more but it takes time because you have to have local anesphtic injected into each one, i also went to the nurse about my weight and i am going to see her weekly thank you for all the responses __________________ No kind action ever stops with itself. Ugh I hate the little skin tags. I have some. I see a dermatologist each year for a skin check (to make sure no moles on my body look cancerous). The dermatologist can take skin tags off while you're there in the office. I think I remember her saying that the removal of up to fifteen skin tags at once would be covered under one fee. So I'd suggest just seeing the dermatologist each year (the skin check is always a good idea!) -- if any are bothering you have them removed during the visit.

You can tie abit of cotton or fish wire around the skin tag and it will drop off after a few days!!! Simple!!! And it works.

Hmmm, I am thinking about doing that with mine because I have one on my lower left stomach that is the size of the pad on your pinky finger. It is really gross and I hate it. They won't take it off unless it is impeding on your life....that is dumb!

A cosmetic surgeon would I think, but insurance wouldn't pay for it. Sometimes a dermatologist will too, right in the office during an office visit. Numb, remove, bandaid... although again insurance won't cover it unless it's inflamed, bleeding etc. Also some dermatologists know how to bill these things to get them paid...

I have them. Mine are due to PCOS. My ob/gyn said they won't go away unless they are removed. But as long as I take my metformin I shouldn't get any new ones.
