But I had my first internal exam in August. I’m not trying to be immature about this, but It’s almost like she broke something inside of me. Since August I’ve had almost zero sex drive. I just think the internal exam did something to me.

Does anyone have any suggestions or comments? I don’t really have anyone to talk to about this. I don’t have a therapist currently and I don’t want to make her uncomfortable when I do get one. I don’t have any friends or anything either. But honestly it does kind of bother me.

Hello Mountaindewed. I am sorry you are struggling. I don't think you sound "immature" at all. Your problem sounds confusing and stressful. When you say "internal exam" are you referring to a vaginal/pelvic exam or something else such as colonoscopy?

You mentioned a change in your sex drive after the exam. How did you feel during the exam? Did you feel safe? Respected and clear on the procedure steps? Or were other emotions being triggered? My hunch, though I'm not a doctor, is that you are possibly dealing with a psychological response to the exam. Unless a surgical procedure occurred or something went really physically wrong with the exam (triggering immediate physical pain), I think it's unlikely to have caused physical damage affecting sexual function. Though these are just my thoughts.

Any history of sexual trauma?

Any other changes recently? Depressed mood? Anxiety? Life events triggering a decline in your sense of control? Any of those could impact your desire for sex.

I am sorry that you feel there's nobody to discuss it with If/when you do see a therapist, check their background. Someone experienced in sex therapy would have no problem or discomfort discussing this concern with you.

I hope you feel back to your former self soon!

Take good care of yourself.
