Can someone relate??? I am 47... last period was mid-January. I had two periods that month, and then nothing. Then recently, the hot flashes started...and I am MORE moody than if I was pmsing. Severe anxiety, unpredictable moods...I feel sorry for my bf..lol. How do you cope?

Talk to your doc, of course. Maybe they will prescribe a mood stabilizer.
A few years ago when I was going through it I had severe and frequent mood swings, and it was really exhausting. I really thought I was going crazy. But (apparently) I didn't. Hopefully you will get through it quickly. If you don't want to try meds there are natural remedies you can try. __________________ |

I feel for you. I am going through the exact same thing, I am 48. I can't cope with it either.

I shared this on another thread yesterday and thought it was an excellent article. __________________ "I carried a watermelon?" President of the no F's given society. |

Oh no. I just turned 45 this year, and am starting to see some of the craziness (posted on another thread... skipped one period, and now, this one, has been going on for 2 weeks and has been kind of *awful*). I'm a little scared...

I wish I could help but I haven't noticed the mood swings. When I was having mood swings (late 30s) I tried natural progesterone and it really did work wonders. You can get it on amazon. It is a creme.

I'm a bit young for this (still in my 30s). However, menopause scares me, because it caused my mom to get really moody and irritable. She also stopped her meds around that time which didn't help. I'm really worried menopause will literally drive me crazy.

48 and perimenopausal here too. Sometimes I have 1.5 periods, sometimes I have night sweats, sometimes I have hot flashes and I definitely have mood swings every month. It's crazy. Sometimes I have terrible insomnia too. My anxiety is often triggered by the most banal thing and I know it's because of my perimenopause.
How do I cope? I won't take hormones or birth control b/c those have side effects and I don't want to deal with side effects from meds that are supposed to help my side effects from the perimenopause. So, I do a LOT of walking, and take a lot of baths, and drink a lot of loose leaf decaf teas. I also eat a lot of dark chocolate and find that really helps my moods. |

One of the worst problems I am having is that it seems like every day I wake up to a new problem. For instance, typically I am very regular but suddenly for no apparent reason I am not. I am having weird dreams / nightmares at night... and there is the aforementioned temperature shifts.
It is very hard to work and have these things happen. |

Oh boy yesterday I had a bout of emotional behavior which was stunning and scary. I Felt so... despondent. But then, just as soon as it came on... it was gone. I actually was crying but, like, I wasn't. My head didn't want to be crying but my body was like just tearing up.
This has to end. |
