Do you have conversations with other women across the stalls? One woman was saying that she always thought this was taboo but people keep doing it to her at work and she's uncomfortable.

Thoughts anyone?

I'm the same way. I hate when people have conversations with me in the bathroom--it's a big phobia of mine.

I think it’s weird and I don’t like it. It seems like professionalism and manners at work are just really lacking these days.

I can't do whatever it is I had planned on doing if someone is talking to me in the stalls.

Ugh. What crass behavior. Maybe if you were in Rome where they had big open seats talking to your neighbor was a thing, but they have privacy stalls for a reason.

question have you ever asked anyone why they are talking to you while in the restroom? I have. some people are so self conscious that others are going to "hear" the bathroom actions, so they cover up the sounds of bodily functions with taking.

some people flush at the important noisy moments others tell their friend or family member outside the stall to turn on the faucets (which covers the noise of doing bathroom business) and others talk.

After someone explained this to me, I no longer felt it was creepy and admit because of this reason I too have joined in with conversations.

I mean who really wants to be sitting there trying to go them selves and notice the "nature sounds" that others are making while doing their business.

not I, sorry Im a talker instead of a sit there and listen to someone elses tinkles and passing gas and more.

I don't really care. I would hate to have a shouting conversation when it's busy but otherwise, what's the big deal?
At least in the case of you were having a conversation when going inside or while waiting in line for a stall to open up and you just continue the conversation.

Starting a conversation out of nowhere "hey how.you doing in there?" Yeah that's weird

Not keen on chatting while in the bathroom, I just want to finish what I'm doing and go.

I only do that with someone I am really close and comfortable with. So it depends on the person.

Not sure all chit chat is welcome when business needs to get done, but chat about something relevant is appropriate and can ease an uncomfortable situation.
