I think it's a fantastic show. Written and produced by women. Delicately and accurately conveys some women's issues. The strong characters are all women while the men are somewhat weak and extraneous. I'm not man-bashing here. We've just had SO many films and shows with strong interesting male characters and weak, superfluous females that it won't hurt to have at least one the other way around.
If you have not seen the show, be advised that it covers some themes which may be triggering for some folks (abuse including sexual and physical violence against women, PTSD). I found one storyline in season one difficult at times due to my own personal history but I rode it out because it's such an interesting and well-directed show. And I want to support female-produced shows. It is also cathartic to witness an exploration of spousal abuse presented in an authentic and non-gratuitous manner. I'd love to discuss it if anyone else has watched? In fairness, almost every character is wealthy and almost all are Caucasian (though there is one very important African American character) so they won't get points for diversity but it is one step in the right direction....presenting strong female characters. |

Dropped HBO a couple years ago due to all my medical bills for treatment resistant depression. I almost re-upped last month just for BIG LITTLE LIES but didn't do it b/c I thought I'd never catch-up. Honestly...I should call right now and add HBO. I'm so tired of punishing myself & doing w/o b/c of TRD.
I'll get back to you. BTW...Is it possible to catch-up this far in?. maydaymayday |
