I was wondering if masks are causing other women to break out in the mask area. My skin is usually clear, but since I started having to wear a mask, I tend to break out in big zits in the chin area often.

Even if I wear it only once a week to go to the store for an hour, I still break out most of the time, ugh!

I have a bit of acne on my face right now, actually, and a cold sore - it’s weird because I’ve been wearing a mask for several hours 3 - 4 days a week in my job, but haven’t noticed an issue until this last week. It’s horrible anyway!

I have totally heard of this! I was just telling my mother exactly on the apples of my cheeks where the mask sits on my face I'm getting breakouts. I already have skin issues that I see a dermatologist for and I'm going to ask her about it when I see her again. All I can say is if you sweat like me give yourself mask breaks at your house if you can.

I'm breaking out cause of the masks. It happens less with throw away masks.

That sucks. The Body Shops tea tree oil from Ulta and the Body Shop might help if it's not to big. It costs $9 a bottle and it's all natural.

I see a skin care specialist. She picks everything which helps sometimes. Have you tried tea tree oil? It works. Only the Body Shop brand doesn't sting. It's natural and a small bottle costs $9 on amazon, Ulta, and the Body Shop.

It's better for small to medium pimples though. I take the mask off the second I'm outside. I wash the reusable ones. The disposable ones still make me break out.

That's interesting. I heard that silk masks are better, so I should get some on amazon soon.

I wear one for long periods in my job and haven't had a problem- it's cotton 3 layer and washable, cotton is the best for me (synthetics made me sweat).
Thanks for this!

Can anyone share a link to a super lightweight mask ? I’m premenopausal and have sever hot flashes often so I’m looking for one as light as possible. Even the disposable ones make me sweat.

Lucky you. I'd break out like crazy if I had to wear a mask all day.

Maybe you can find lightweight masks on amazon or etsy?

Most of my colleagues found the disposable ones the sweatiest. Try going for natural materials such as ccotton, I think they feel cooler against skin. Main problem I have is sore ears.

Yes, I've heard of it.

In my case, it's dry skin patches around my mouth, especially top lip area. Been advised to use a gentle natural based cleanser then same type of moisturiser.

Only wear mask for short time (shopping, going to bank, etc), mask is cotton washed in a detergent for sensitive skin (due to psoriasis). Perhaps I've just been blaming mask when it could be weather, central heating, etc.

I know someone this has been happening to and it's a very real thing. My one suggestion would be to try masks made of different materials as perhaps one type is a bit less problematic.

Check out etsy.com. There are loads of masks being sold there.

I'm finding either hemp or organic cotton masks are best for my skin and the most comfortable.
