Happy Wednesday, all!

I joined Curves in October and try to make it twice/week. I've only lost 2 lb! since Nov. but didn't gain anything over the holidays-a good thing-I'm allergic to dairy so that comes in handy!

I've lost inches in my abs, etc. and gained 1" in my arms-as soon as I finish the food I have, I'll do their plan-eat 6x/day-small.

A BIT FRUSTRATED NOW!

Remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so pay attention to the lost inches more than what the scale says. If you're noticing a difference in the way clothes fit, and if you're loosing inches, its working! Just gotta wait to actually see it on the scale. Right now muscle weight is replacing fat weight, so you'll see poundage come off a little while later after you build the muscle you're gonna build.

Good for you for working out and taking care of yourself!!!

I had to quit Curves as their machines and non-supervision and my body didn't get along and I ended up at the physical therapist instead for 2-3 months but while I could go, I did almost immediately get more energy and felt stronger, etc. I didn't lose but a pound or two either and I was going 3x a week. It does take good diet and exercise together to lose weight I think.

I have been in my local gym (Goodlife) since October attending at least 3x weekly. It seems that my msucle mass is gaining and I do not want that. I don't want to look "macho" I want to look lean and fit.

My body shape is too "masculine" when I workout but I have this little bit of overall fat that just won't go. It is mostly on my back and thighs. The muscle develops underneath it but that little layer won't burn off. Any ideas?

try pilates, ingridave2, it stretches and smoothes out the mass.

great ocdchick, while exercizing is good for your overall health, period, you have to reduce your caloric intake and if that is reduced a little, please select fresh whole foods if you want to drop weight quicker. Reduce sugar or cut it out except for what is in dark chocolate, that's a good fat with anti-oxidants. Eat lots of fiber, drink water, and you will lose some weight.

women and men store weight for different reasons, biologically, as womens store fat to reproduce successfully - even when they don't need to (lol) and men lose weight faster and thru exercise, where women must start with what is on their plates, as well as being physical.

good luck

peace,
nightbird

Yes...it is frustrating also to know than peri-menopause is in full swing now, at 42. I am having hot flashes now. The exercise doesn't burn teh fat very quickly while menopause is approaching. I have seen aunts who gained alot of weight during menopause and once teh flashes and all were gone, they lost the weight much faster.

Happy Tuesday, ID!

Yes, I've been told it's easier to lose b4 menopause-I lost 25 lb. before-6 years ago so I know I can do it again.

I'm reading nutritional labels and seeking a LOW(single digit) sugar content as well as single digit fat content. It's amazing how much there can be in frozen meals!

I eat no dairy-allergies-eat a lot of fruit, am laying off sugar for Lent and beyond. I don't drink due to my meds-know that can add calories.

thanks for the tips. I'm going on the treadmill when I get home and the club tomorrow.

I hope the treadmill helps. I do the treadmill and the other machine.....elliptical I think it is. I found that they have done more for my depression than weight loss. While doing all of hte cardio this winter....I had much less depression than I usually have in the winter.
