I know I’m overthinking this, but it sickens me just thinking about it. I stumbled upon an Amazon link for the novel Who Let Girls In The Boys’ Locker Room?, which is about a girl who dresses as a boy to enter a basketball team since her school doesn’t allow girls, and the reviews are absolutely disgusting as they miss the entire point of the book. I haven’t read the book before but still the negative feedback is horrendous:

“Whoa Baby! Watch out cause those girls must be snooping. What are they doing in the Boys Locker Room! The boys must be freaken.”

“One star. Obama, that's who“

“As if we dont have a society that already promotes a complete lack of respect for the privacy of boys and men, Elaine Moore has to write a book encouraging girls to excercise their 'feminst equality' side to a new level.

This book sends a clear message. Boys dont deserve respect, privacy or modesty and girls can treat boys in a manner that would be totally reprehensible if reversed. Its no wonder boys are struggling so much in schools today with such a broad spectrum of disrespect, double standards and legalised discrimination. So much for equality.

Are girls ever going to be responsible for what they do, or is it only boys and men who have to respect the opposite sex.

Wonderful message, Ms Moore. Is this some kind of double standard fantasy you’re acting out on? What a great example to set. As if girls needed any encouragement to degrade boys to begin with.”

Add that up with blatant transphobia along with this guy’s antifeminist perspective by playing victim and placing blame on women and girls for fighting for respect, all while ignoring the fact that it’s the men who invade women’s privacy. So much victim mentality and MRA’s whining about how they’re being discriminated all while excusing their bs on mistreating women and not regarding them as people. Moving on…

“It sucked! This was probably the worst book I ever read. I unfortunately thought that because the cover had a funny picture the book would be funny.

Only read it if you really like basketball and think guys are jerks. Don't read it if you like an interesting story, characters and comedy.“

Because apparently a story about feminism is just man-hating propaganda and lazy writing so therefore it’s garbage…

“I have no idea why I read this book many years ago, but I regretted it. This is a children's book that encourages very immoral behavior. I was disgusted. Aside from that, it was poorly written and had too simple of a plot for it to be very interesting.”

Immoral? Immoral for a woman to call out misogyny regarding sports? I’m sorry, what?

I know this is just a book, but when you come to think about it, there are people are easily upset by things they don’t understand and will do anything to ruin their targets’ lives. It’s also a disgusting double standard how books with boy protagonists get generally praised (not that I don’t want them to be praised if they have a good moral) meanwhile any books (or other media) that focus on girls or even transgender people get heavily criticized and framed as liberal propaganda and man-hating.

“The only thing that makes me curious about women’s bathrooms is why on earth does my local Walmart have 1 toilet in the men’s room, but 7 in the women’s room. Not to mention a disparity of sinks that favours women’s restrooms as well.”

Again, I apologize if I’m overreacting, but it just sickens me that whenever sexism towards women is addressed, it results in a droning defense mechanism stating that women are the ones who are discriminating men and having no respect for them. It’s as if whenever equity is involved, privileged people start complaining about how they’re being oppressed and that the so-called oppressed group never should’ve had rights to begin with and are now taking advantage of them.

It really bugs me how when privileged people start screaming double standards over how they are being discriminated and treated badly when minorities are being taken more seriously and they’ll complain that somehow people on the lower end of the social ladder are the bad guys and are not giving them respect. Yet hilariously they are the same people who are unaware of their OWN double standards and just how ignorant they are acting. When they get called out for bad behavior, they’ll scream “not all X” or “Y just want to avoid responsibility for what they do to X”. And the “whataboutism’s”… UGH!!

Anyway, that’s all I have to say. I’m just so frustrated at all of this. I hope I haven’t annoyed any of you with my vent.
