I just have some helpful links as I've been researching this . Also, I have begun taking HRT and can't believe no one has recommended this to me years ago, especially during my mental breakdown. It has made a WORLD of difference in my mental state, but YMMV. From what I've read, HRT is being researched with treating schizophrenic women. It helps sleep apnea to name just a few benefits.

And many gyn Dr do not even talk about this HRT for mental health

Just a moment....

Yes I hang out on the menopause Reddit boards and they rail against the abject ignoring of menopause.

I don't want to take the HRT because I fear that the doctors don't know what they are doing and they don't care and there can be serious consequences. But menopause has been so horrible for me I might have to and hope for the best.

I hang out there, too!
There's a wealth of information. I did start on December 23 but have been having problems with progesterone intolerance.
So I'm just using the estradiol patch (for my mental health) until I see my gyn in a few weeks.
I will never stop taking it.
I suffered for so long. I even had 2 sinus node ablations and was put on a beta blocker (which made me want to end things).
Now, on HRT, everything is better, my mood, my blood pressure, no more sweating or hot flashes, and my insomnia has disappeared. I wish you the best of luck on your journey, and I hope you have a knowledgeable GYN.

That is quite amazing, how helpful estradio has been in an all around way.

Another argument for using HRT if you suffer from mental illness is TD prevention. Women on psych meds, especially APs but not only APs, run the risk of developing tardive dyskinesia after menopause because of lacking estrogen.
