Sigh.. and i feel bad for being frustrated. Im not frustrated at baby, just worried over small issues.

Had to take baby to get his cord checked today as it fell off early. They said it is fine, I just have to bathe it in a special solution for the next few days.

While there, they weighed him, and hes lost another two ounces, which makes almost a pound altogether.. more than he should have lost. She said though that since it took four days for my milk to come in that he likely lost because of that.

She also said he is jaundiced a bit, and that he needs bloodwork monday.. I am so worried now as i was RH negative which can lead to problems like this escalating.

On top of this I am having trouble keeping him awake to feed, he falls asleep as soon as he latches on and fusses when I wake him, and makes me feel terribly guilty about it. Then, on top of that , I often have to wake him to feed him which he hates too.

And he hasn't pooped today, and that worries me too.

On top of all that, he spit up his last feed and it looked like the entire feed, and I dont know if i should immediately try to feed him again or wait.. he didnt seem to want more when I tried.

Augh, I just am worried about him.. probably new mother syndrome though.

(((((Rain))))) I'd be worried to. But i think everything will turn out just fine. Alot of babies go through those problems. Just let his doc know what is going on.

We, as mothers, will worry anyway. We don't want to do anything that might cause discomfort to our child, but after teh task of birthing, we also experience postpartum depression and experience new worries with each little difference....Give it time love. I am certain teh doctors will be very thorough is assessing and treating whatever your precious needs. Right now, you are his world. *sigh* My first frustrating day... *sigh* My first frustrating day... *sigh* My first frustrating day... *sigh* My first frustrating day...

hon this is normal. when he falls asleep feeding thumb the bottom of his foot lightly. it stimulates them. it is perfectly ok to do this. I had to do it with mine. a very sweet nurse told me about that when I had my daughter and it worked. it is very normal for a baby to lose a little weight the first week. now with your milk in he should start to gain it back pretty fast. just keep your eye on the jaundice. if he turns too yellow take him to the er but he really should be fine hon. hang in there. is anyone there with you? helping out?

So true, Thank you *sigh* My first frustrating day... *sigh* My first frustrating day... *sigh* My first frustrating day...

I know the docs will take care of him, I am just impatient and have mother instict to the max that makes me want everything to be checked out right this instant instead of waiting until the lab is open monday morning *sigh* My first frustrating day...

I know and am almost certain that I am somewhat overreacting to most of this, but hell I am going to worry anyways, thats my job as a mom to worry *sigh* My first frustrating day... *sigh* My first frustrating day...

Thanks Be!

I have relatives in throughout the day helping out.. my moms been here a fair bit, but she is starting to drive me nuts as she comes over and then spends the entire time complaining about how much work it is to come over and how tired she is from working one day a week cleaning houses...and blah blah blah...

But my other relatives are in to check on me every day. For the most part though I have been alone at night, which doesn't bother me much as I don't have any problem getting up with him, I am usually up anyways.

yay! I never imagined I would be so happy to see green poop in all my life.

And bubs is feeding way better today - perhaps he just needed a night to get used to it?

*sigh* My first frustrating day...

(((((( Rain ))))))

Sounds very scary! Jaundice is so common with newborns. They'll probably just do a heal stick to check his blood. He'll cry but its really not that bad. I did a lot of healsticks in my day. *sigh* My first frustrating day... They might have you put him under a UV lamp and spend time with him in the sun to lessen the jaundice. Its amazing how common it is. *sigh* My first frustrating day...

One of the best moments is when you look at him and can just feel the love pouring out of you, like the whole world glows because of such a beautiful child.

I still feel that way and mine is 12. *sigh* My first frustrating day...

Today wasn't bad at all, though very eeeeewey.. lol

First he peed on my mother LOL thats what she gets for holding him while naked while I fetch a diaper.

Then, he pooped the ickiest greenish brown loose poop that went EVERYWHERE (seriously, he even had poop up his back LOL)

Then, he was feeding for a REALLY long time.. and I thought to myself, gosh he sure is eating alot.. when suddenly.. BARF all over my boob *sigh* My first frustrating day... *sigh* My first frustrating day... *sigh* My first frustrating day... and the bed. I think bubs just overstuffed himself to the point of barfing. Then i sat him up and burped him and BARF again all over my clean shirt. LOL.

Now that I have grossed you all out for the day, back to your regularly scheduled programming. *sigh* My first frustrating day...

Hon, there's no such thing as the cord falling off "early." Just like the baby, they do things on their own time. When my babies were born, I was told to swab the cord with alcohol at least twice a day so that it would dry up faster.

Two of my babies would fall asleep as soon as I put them on the breast. Frustrating! I was told to thump their little feet to wake them up. Nothing worked but to put a cool, damp cloth on their forehead. When they'd wake up hungry, I wouldn't feed them right away. I'd play with them for a little bit to get them good and awake.

For the jaundice... it's normal. Have they told you to put Jeremy near a window to get some bright sunlight? Not directly on him, mind you, just bright light. That helps it go away. I have RH negative blood, too. If he was going to have trouble that way, it would have been obvious when you were still on the delivery table. Did they prick his little heal for a blood sample? I forget what it's called. That would tell them everything they need to know bloodwise.

The "first milk," cholostrum, is what gets their pooper going, among other things. *sigh* My first frustrating day... If your milk has now come in, then he's probably not going to poop as often as before. Besides, his little system is still regulating itself.

Are you feeding both sides at one time? He may need to be burped so that his dinner doesn't come up with the gas bubble. Even if you're only feeding one side, pull him off somewhere in the middle and burp him. It's not always true that breast fed babies don't need to be burped. *sigh* My first frustrating day...

What are you eating? Anything that could produce gas or is binding? I gave my daughter diarrhea once by eating strawberry preserves. *sigh* My first frustrating day... With the last one, I could eat anything and it wouldn't bother him. LOL

*sigh* My first frustrating day... Relax, sweety. (HA!) No, really, try to relax. Babies aren't as "breakable" as some people think. *sigh* My first frustrating day...

Thanks you guys, what would I do without you!

I posted this in general but I will post it here too. Bubs gained four ounces from the other day!!! yayyyy I am SO happy.

his bloodwork showed high bilirubin levels today, they are going to do it again tomorrow, and if it is up they may have me go to the hospital with him for a couple of days to have light therapy. Health nurse was here today though and she says he looks good albeit a bit jaundiced.

So happy he is gaining now!!
