Leggings sometimes work better for me with dresses and skirts.

I don't wear them. I hate how constricting they feel.
if I absolutely had to wear a skirt I would probably wear some kind of leggings underneath.

I stopped wearing them a few years ago. I can hardly find them in my size and the ones I had were too baggy, even though they were the right size on the chart according to my height and weight. Most of my skirts and dresses are knee length or longer, so it doesn't bother me.

I find pantyhose absolutely horrible. I've only worn them when I've managed to bump my leg on something and acquire a bruise. One thing to try that are more comfortable might be a neutral color of Nike Pros, which still prevent any mishaps and keep your thighs from rubbing together too much.

I found a DIY project this summer for my old pantyhose. I cut them into thigh highs & put them on my sewing machine using a stretch stitch.
If I ever need them I can put them on a garter belt. Never thought to actually sew them.
