I just had surgery on Friday for urinary stress incontinence. It has been a problem for me since my youngest child was born 14 years ago. (I think he wanted to drag my pelvic organs with him)....So, I have a mild uterine prolapse.

At that time, when he was about 2 the doctor wanted to do a hysterectomy. Then, a few years ago I saw another doctor who wanted to do a more invasive vaginal repair job as well, along with a sling.

This doctor did a relatively new procedure called TVT (Tension free vaginal tape surgery).

It is a minimally invasive procedure that puts a sling made out of mesh tape to hold your urethra in place. It is done vaginally. I am recovering nicely, a little sore but not bad at all.

I'm so glad I waited until I found a doctor who would work with my need not to have an invasive procedure or remove organs unnecessarily. I am so excited. Today I coughed and guess what? NO LEAK

LOL

I have had the sling and it failed within a year. not a mesh sling though. I had to go back and have the mmk done. they stitch the bladder to the pelvic bone. was an open thing but I love love love it!

Great news. I don't always have a leakage issue, but I did on my wedding day, not much, but when hubby went into grab the garter I was like, uh oh I hope I don't smell too much like urine down there! What a worry!!!
