I went to see my MD after a "fall". I looked pretty rough so my MD was going to call the police. I begged her not to; she told me she had to check with her Lawyer to see if reporting was mandatory. I thought what you confided in your MD was confidential what's up???

not sure of the law there. you would need to call an attorney for that, but if you are being hit and she knows it I would think it a good thing for her to call but I am not sure they could do anything without you telling them you were being hit. being abused is not ok. I have been a punching bag before and it is no fun. if you are being hit please get out of that situation. feel free to pm me.

I believe that doctors do have some sort of obligation to report if someone is being abused, or is a danger to themselves or others. That probably differs from state to state - I don't know Ohio law.

If you're getting beaten up, why...? I know it's easier said than done, for a lot of reasons, but...nobody deserves to get beaten, ever. Been there, not doing it again. Get help and get out, if you can. Let your doctor help you - they know about resources we might not find on our own.
