I went through a stretch a few years ago where I went 10 to 14 days between them . Some of us are unfortunate enough to have perimenopause last 10 years or so (it's happened to a friend of mine, too). I don't know if that's only the case for her (and me) because of our weight issues, but I weigh a fair bit less now than I did then and my periods are still a mess except for the last 6 months -- when they've been freakin clockwork. Turns out one of my meds for one of my physical health problems can result in that.

Anyway, I guess that's the long way of saying, until you manage to go a whole year without one at all, anything is possible. Sorry to be a bummer -- I want it to be over too!!

Oh, I'm 43, btw. The one positive thing I can say about having it dragged out for so long is that I really haven't experienced the horrors I've heard about -- the hot flashes, etc.

As we age our periods become "irregular" - which can mean any thing from them being less in days, more in flow or less in flow, to more clots than flow and even a shorter time in between periods.... every woman's body is different.
