So I've always had a fair bit of body hair, as part of this hormone thing I have. While getting ready to go to the beach was always some work, it was ok to manage. Now I'm in my mid 20s and suddenly I'm getting coarse dark hairs on my chin and my upper lip. There's something particularly discouraging about manly hair in this obvious place. I don't have much money now for treatment, and I've been saving my money for so long to laser my bikini line. I know that many women have this issue and struggle with waxing, bleaching etc, but I just feel down about having a new and very obvious hair problem. I just want to feel like a lady!

I am so sorry that you are going through this issue so young as I have a niece that is about to turn 25 years old and she has been dealing with an over all hairy body issue since she went through puberty (she has hormonal issue where her body produces more testosterone than the average female has) - her doctor has recommend that she take birth control pills to try and regulate her hormones.... has this been offered to you by your doctor?

hey there,

yeah, I have a similar thing. I really don't like the idea of birth control pills, but maybe I'll have to go that route. Nothing's perfect I guess!

I get dark hair at the very corner of my lips. There is some version of Nair/Veet that is meant for facial skin, (less harsh) and that's what I have used in the past. Maybe it would work for you?

just remember to never shave, is what i have always heard, regarding facial hair. The "veet"/"nair" sounds like a good idea, or bleaching maybe too.

I have a similar issue... I just shave my upper lip. >.< Going to a salon to have it waxed is expensive and time-consuming.

I'm bummed out too. But, I'm past menopause. That's why I've got a dark mustache.

I've tried nair and it burns my face - bad!
I've had it waxed and I get a sore on the top of my lip from the irritation.
I've got very sensative skin.
Any other recomendations?

Right now, I"m just pulling out hairs, but,
it's not working.
There's too many of them.
I can't keep up.
And it hurts, anyway.

Peace!

I have heard that spironolactone (a male hormone blocker) is sometimes prescribed to women for hirsutism.

I just got a prescription for it for acne. It also helps lower blood pressure.

Nice to hear that other women have this trouble too. I just tried the waxing to look better for my boyfriend's upcoming visit, and it just gave me pimples all over my upper lip and chin. I'm devastated, but trying VERY hard to remember not to cut off my nose despite my face, if you will. It sounds like I will need to go on the pill.

There's a product called Miracle for men that works very well, they have it in the men's section at Walmart or Walgreens, etc. It is specifically for the face and leaves no bumps or anything, they have regular or scented. Many women who have PCOS use it...some use it for all hair removal! It'd test it out first on a small area, however!

Best Wishes,

TJ

I have the same facial hair problems. The reason why I have it is because I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). You should look up what it is and see if you might you have it. Lots of women have it and dont know. Most doctors dont know about it either.
