I'm devastated...I lost my job of 10 years.
It was more than just a job--it was my career. It is what I want to do with my life. I am dedicated to neuroscience education. I prided myself in being a true professional and I always keep up with the current literature. I am an educator on the cutting edge of my field. I am knowledgeable of the current research in neuroscience education. I know the hot topics of the field. Neuroscience education is struggling through some radical changes and I have a clear understanding of where it is heading in the future. I'm devastated...

Depressme,
I'm so sorry. Give yourself some time to grieve the loss of this job, and then start looking for a new one. I'm sure your passion for the field will come through in interviews. --splitimage |

Working through your resume can be part of the healing from this blow. Your work is very important and combined with your IT skills, I hope you are snatched right up.
Please let us know how you're getting on, ok?

Any chance that you could find work as a consultant in your field? You may need to become very creative in the coming days and think up new paths for yourself. Good luck.

Hi, I understand how it feels to loose a career. I, also, was in neuroscience and not only had my Ph.D. program fall apart but also had to close my clinic due to the recession. I felt like I had had an amputation. I guess the trick is not to so identify with the 'outside' that we feel less than, when these things change. I'm on a whole new track now....still unemployed, but developing skills in technology. I find the neuroscience skills can be applied in lots of different ways. Hope this helps you. |
